To Mercer Transportation Company every load mattered then and every load still matters today. We safely haul over 250,000 loads annually, with our fleet of more than 2200 permanently leased units combined with our Brokerage Department. Mercer Transportation Company has built one of the larges

Unifying our operation is a nationwide network of more than 90 field offices in key cities throughout the US to provide local, personal representation no matter where the customers are. A LEGACY IN MOTION šŸšŸš›

A legacy isn’t something that stands still. It keeps moving, and sometimes, it moves a little faster.

These vintage trailers represent the miles traveled, memories made, and people who helped shape our company. Each one carried more than freight. It carried our name, reputation, and commitment down the road.

Now, Mercer Transportation's newly wrapped NASCAR trailer carries that legacy into an exciting new chapter. The equipment may change, the look may evolve, and the road may occasionally lead to the racetrack. But the pride behind our name remains the same.

We’re proud of every mile that brought us here, and we’re excited for the road ahead.

WHAT DOES INVESTING IN EMPLOYEE WELL-BEING LOOK LIKE?

At Mercer Transportation, it looks like practical health resources, meaningful conversations, community-building walking challenges, and opportunities for staff to pause, connect, and recharge.

Our racing-themed 2026 Annual Health Fair brought that commitment to life through local resources, wellness ā€œpit stops,ā€ health screenings, and personalized guidance. No sales pitches, just helpful information employees could use for themselves and their families.

There’s a lot you can learn when you get everyone under the same roof.

At Mercer Transportation, annual events like our MATS Week Jamboree bring agents, drivers, staff and managers together around the same tables. There’s a meal, plenty of conversation, and most importantly, an open forum where people can ask questions, share ideas and hear perspectives from across the operation.

Those conversations matter.

Agents gain a better understanding of what drivers experience on the road. Drivers hear more about what happens behind the scenes. Staff and leadership get to listen directly to the people they support every day.

It’s an opportunity to learn from one another, strengthen relationships and find better ways to work together.

Because getting better takes more than knowing your part of the business. It takes understanding how all the parts connect.

Culture isn’t something you can build with a mission statement alone.

It’s built in the everyday moments.

It’s knowing the people you work alongside. It’s relationships that grow over years and sometimes decades. It’s celebrating milestones together, showing up when someone needs support, sharing a meal, having a laugh and taking pride in the work happening all around you.

At Mercer, transportation may be what brings us together, but people are what have always made this place what it is.

Our owner operators. Our agents. Our customers. Our employees. The families and communities connected to all of them.

Different roles. Different backgrounds. Different reasons for being here. But each one is part of something bigger.

That’s the culture we continue to build at Mercer Transportation, one relationship at a time.

There are days when your job feels like the work right in front of you.

And then there are days when you get to see what all that work can become.

For us, seeing the Mercer Transportation name at North Wilkesboro Speedway for their first NASCAR Cup Series race in 30 years was one of those moments.

It was bigger than a trailer at a racetrack. It was a reminder of how many people it takes to keep transportation moving and how many different talents come together to make that possible.

Every day, people across Mercertown answer phones, solve problems, support our owner-operators, work with customers, manage details and take care of things most people will never see.

Individually, they can feel like small pieces of a very big operation.

Together, they're transportation.

And every once in a while, you get a view like this that makes you stop and appreciate what you're part of.

Freight management gets complicated long before a truck ever arrives at the dock.

A change in volume can affect capacity. A different commodity can change equipment requirements. Delivery windows influence routing. Regulations, documentation and tracking add another layer. And when something changes in transit, every decision downstream can be affected.

That’s why good freight management is rarely about solving one transportation problem at a time. It’s about understanding how all of those decisions connect.

For shippers evaluating how they manage transportation, a few questions are worth asking:

Are we consistently finding the right capacity for the freight we move?

How much of our team’s time is spent managing transportation instead of our core business?

Do we have the visibility and information we need when conditions change?

And are we managing freight strategically, or simply reacting to the next shipment?

Those are some of the considerations behind our latest article on outsourcing freight management.

There’s a lot more being carried down the highway than what’s on the trailer.

There’s the responsibility of getting it there safely. The expectations of the people counting on it. Long days, changing weather and time spent away from the people waiting at home.

And there’s the pride that comes from doing the job well.

As Driver Appreciation Week approaches, we’ve been asking people throughout Mercer to reflect on what this profession really asks of the men and women behind the wheel. Their answers have reminded us that appreciating drivers starts with understanding the weight they carry, including the parts that never appear on a bill of lading.

At Mercer Transportation, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside owner operators for nearly 50 years. That history has taught us a lot, but perhaps most importantly, it has taught us never to lose sight of the person behind the truck.

What does it mean to be supported while still having the freedom to run your business?

At Mercer Transportation, we believe good agents should be able to spend more time doing what they do best: building relationships, finding opportunities and taking care of their customers.

That’s why our team is here to handle the things behind the scenes that can get in the way. And that support isn’t one-size-fits-all. We can be as hands-on as an agent wants us to be.

General Managers, Tyler Johnston, and Jacob Crouch talk about the people, resources and support behind Mercer agents and what it means to have a team in your corner while you grow.

Because independence doesn’t have to mean doing everything alone.

A freight agent does more than ā€œbook loads.ā€

They help connect shippers with the right carrier, the right equipment, the right rate, and the right plan to keep freight moving. It is a role built on relationships, communication, problem-solving, and trust.

At Mercer Transportation, independent freight agents have the freedom to run their business while gaining access to the support, systems, and capacity that help them grow.
