If you know me, you know that Western Kentucky University holds a very special place in my heart. ❤️🤍
Last night, I had the opportunity to attend a WKU alumni event in Louisville at The Rabbit Hole. It was inspiring connecting with fellow alumni, sharing stories, and hearing about the exciting future ahead for WKU.
It’s hard to believe I graduated 11 years ago. Looking back, WKU played such an important role in shaping both my personal and professional life. My family has a long history of graduating from WKU, my parents met there and have been married over 30 years, some of my closest lifelong friendships began on the Hill, and many of my favorite memories—from football tailgates to studying abroad—came from my years there.
I graduated with an undergrad degree in Corporate & Organizational Communication, and while I was excited about the future, I also remember how uncertain that transition from college to career could feel. I applied for countless jobs, tried to figure out where I belonged professionally, and wondered what the “right” next step was.
Now, as a business owner, I have a much greater appreciation for how valuable mentorship and real-world experience can be for a young professional.
That’s why I’d love to pay it forward.
If you are a current WKU student looking for a part time paid internship opportunity, particularly someone interested in communication, marketing, business development, community outreach, senior services, or entrepreneurship, I would love to connect.
Through Simply Shift, I’d love to give a student the opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on experience while also providing mentorship, professional connections, and a better understanding of what it takes to grow and operate a small business.
Sometimes all you need is someone willing to open a door, answer your questions, and help point you in the right direction.
WKU helped prepare me for the future I have today, and I would be honored to help do the same for another Hilltopper.
Go Tops! ❤️🤍
P.S. My family is your biggest fan, Big Red ❤️☺️
