On Friday, June 26, LRTA employees, local officials and guests gave a big and spirited farewell sendoff to LRTA bus driver Norris 'Bucky' Chew who retired after 50 years of valued service. Local officials, including Lowell Mayor Eric Gitschier, presented citations to Bucky recognizing his "years of dedicated service safely driving thousands of riders to their Greater Lowell destinations." Bucky was joined at the ceremony by his longtime partner Linda Ferris and son Eric. LRTA Administrator Dave Bradley and General Manager George Anastas also praised Bucky's career, which saw him drive an estimated 750,000 miles behind the wheel of an LRTA bus. Bucky also received official Statehouse citations from the offices of Senator Vanna Howard and Rep. Tara Hong; as well as from U.S. Rep. Lori Trahan.
GOOD LUCK BUCKY IN YOUR RETIREMENT FROM THE LRTA AND ALL YOUR FRIENDS!
