Fines for snowmobiling in Vermont without a valid registration (from any state or province) and/or a TMA (trail pass) have increased. The first offense is $565, and the second offense is $622. That means if you ride in Vermont and get caught without a snowmobile registration, you pay $565 the first time and $622 the second and each subsequent time. If you ride a snowmobile in Vermont without a valid VAST TMA, you pay $565 the first time you get caught and $622 the second time and each subsequent time. It's so much easier to just ride legally!!
All funds from fines and tickets for snowmobile infractions get sent to VAST to help fund our law enforcement program. Law enforcement just had their annual VAST orientation, and they talked about night patrols and expanding patrols.
