In just two seasons with Shepler's, Trevor has already made an impressive impact.
Starting as a Dock & Deckhand, Trevor's hard work, commitment to learning, and positive attitude have helped him quickly advance to a Senior Qualified Deckhand in only two years.

His journey is a great example of what can happen when dedication meets opportunity. Whether he's assisting passengers, supporting vessel operations, or stepping up wherever needed, Trevor consistently demonstrates the professionalism and teamwork that help keep Shepler's moving.

As part of our Behind the Bowline series, we're proud to introduce Debra, Guest Relations Coordinator, whose kindness, attentiveness, and welcoming spirit help guests feel taken care of long before they step aboard a Shepler's ferry.

Whether she's on the phone answering questions, helping guests plan their visit, or ensuring no detail is overlooked, Debra approaches every conversation with patience and care. Known for her big heart and friendly personality, she's also a favorite among our crew. One of her greatest joys is chatting with our younger cast members when they stop by the office to share the latest happenings and catch up between shifts.

Debra's warmth, dedication, and genuine interest in others embody the guest-first culture that has long been a part of the Shepler's tradition.

Despite smoke from the Canadian wildfires affecting Northern Michigan, Shepler’s Ferry is open and running departures all day to beautiful Mackinac Island! Also, we are still cruising our Extended Eastbound Lighthouse Cruise this afternoon. All Aboard!

Our team is ready, our boats are cruising, and guests are continuing to enjoy unforgettable trips across the Straits.

For more than three decades, Tom has been a steady presence on our waterfront, leading with experience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to our crews and guests. Around here, we often say he bleeds blue and white, and anyone who has worked alongside him knows exactly why.

Whether it's a new crew member learning the ropes or a seasoned team member facing a challenge, Tom is someone people naturally look to for guidance. His calm demeanor, deep knowledge, and dependable leadership make him a source of confidence and stability for everyone around him.

Meet Shepler, a very good boy named after his family's favorite way to get to Mackinac Island. We were thrilled to welcome this crew aboard and finally meet our four-legged namesake in person.
