Today marks a significant milestone in the history of aviation in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Washington Manassas Airport has received its Airport Operating Certificate (AOC) from the Federal Aviation Administration officially becoming Virginia’s 10th commercial service airport.

This historic achievement represents the culmination of years of planning, investment, collaboration, and dedication by our federal, state, county, city, and aviation partners. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with everyone who helped make it possible—and grateful to those who will help carry Washington Manassas Airport into its next chapter.

For National Intern Day, we’re celebrating Dominic Lapine, our current Airport Operations Intern at Washington Manassas Airport!

This summer, Dominic is getting hands-on experience in airport operations—from airfield inspections and emergency response to FAA regulations, construction projects, security, and more.

Our twelve week internship program gives aspiring aviation professionals a chance to learn what it really takes to keep an airport operating safely and efficiently. We’re excited to have Dominic on the team and excited to see where his aviation career takes him!

This morning, we celebrated the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new ARFF Station 41 at the Washington Manassas Airport! ✈️🚒

The new station features a day room, dining room, training room, and office space, and is designed to accommodate the airport's three ARFF trucks. This new facility enhances our emergency response capabilities while providing the resources our firefighters need to serve the airport effectively. This is another significant step in our transition to a commercial service airport, strengthening our commitment to safety and preparedness.
