Construction begins!

This week, construction has started on the east ramp for the commercial terminal building and parking lot projects. Crews will be on site daily for the next twelve months. During this time, please make note of the following closures:

- Taxilane Zulu closed between terminal ramp and Taxilane Yankee.
- The east ramp is closed.
- Taxiway Echo and Foxtrot will remain open.
- A portion of the terminal ramp is available for U.S. Customs flights.
- Existing Terminal Parking Lot will have a phased closure. Limited public parking will be available so make note of signage over the next month.
- Offices in the terminal building, including the Airport Administration and the Security Office, will remain open for public access. New parking spaces will be identified in the coming month.

The Airport will continue to send out and post construction updates as necessary.

On Saturday, the Washington Manassas Airport Commission held a retreat focused on navigating the Airport’s continued growth through effective governance, leadership, and communication.

Commissioners heard from aviation leaders on commercial service development, regional transportation, economic development, national aviation trends, and the evolving role of regional airports. The day also provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration, align on priorities, and consider how the Airport can continue to support its general aviation foundation while preparing for its next chapter.

Today marks a significant milestone in the history of aviation in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Washington Manassas Airport has received its Airport Operating Certificate (AOC) from the Federal Aviation Administration officially becoming Virginia’s 10th commercial service airport.

This historic achievement represents the culmination of years of planning, investment, collaboration, and dedication by our federal, state, county, city, and aviation partners. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with everyone who helped make it possible—and grateful to those who will help carry Washington Manassas Airport into its next chapter.
