Job Summary:
The Dispatch Operator is responsible for coordinating and managing the day-to-day operations of our fleet. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The Dispatch Operator will ensure that all deliveries are scheduled, drivers are dispatched efficiently, and any issues that arise are promptly addressed to maintain seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Dispatching and Routing: Assign loads to drivers, ensuring efficient routing and timely delivery of freight. Monitor driver locations and delivery status throughout the day.
* Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing them with detailed instructions, directions, and any necessary updates. Coordinate with customers to provide delivery status and address any concerns.
* Problem Solving: Quickly address and resolve any issues that may arise during the dispatch process, including delays, mechanical issues, or driver concerns.
* Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards. Keep accurate records of dispatch activities and driver logs.
* Scheduling: Manage driver schedules, ensuring that all routes are covered and that drivers have the necessary rest periods as required by law.
* Technology: Utilize dispatch software and GPS tracking systems to monitor and optimize the movement of trucks and drivers. Keep all systems updated with accurate information.
* Reporting: Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on dispatch activities, delivery performance, and other key metrics.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics, transportation, or a related field is a plus.
* Previous experience in a dispatch role, preferably within the trucking or transportation industry.
* Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
* Proficiency in using dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and other relevant technology.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle high-pressure situations.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
