Winter Sailing today produced sustained winds of 20 and gusts up to 40 MPH. I reefed to the first batten and she remained stable, even with the gusts. Sail shape was fine.

Once sailing is completed, a few pulls on the furling line while easing tension on the main halyard results in turning of the furler mandrel (aluminum tube). As were are coming in the harbor under motor, this process can be done over a few minutes without leaving the cockpit. No more running up the boom and mast to "catch" the sail. No more sail ties. No more flaking the sail. No more adjusting the lazy jacks or sail bag. The finished furl is nice and clean and it does not leave any creases on the sail. It's ready for the next adventure.
