A right that can be taken away at the Minister’s discretion isn’t a right at all. WestJet pilots are standing up today to protect the right to strike. Protect workers, not shortcuts. ✊

“Pick the best of both and move forward.”

NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy and ALPA President Capt. Jason Ambrosi agree that Congress must move forward on aviation safety legislation that takes the best parts of the Senate-passed ROTOR Act and the House-passed ALERT Act.

The final bill must:

✅ Mandate integrated ADS-B In for all aircraft, including military helicopters operating in shared, congested airspace

✅ Include the rest of the NTSB’s recommendations from its Potomac midair collision investigation report

"Spirit's workers shared personal information because their jobs required it, not so it could be sold to train AI," said ALPA President Capt. Jason Ambrosi. "Our safety system works because pilots and other airline workers trust that when they speak up, it stays confidential. Break that trust and people stop reporting. We thank Senator Warren and Representative Horsford and dozens of Members of Congress for acting quickly to seek answers before this sale is final. Google and Spirit must put real, enforceable protections in place before a single employee record changes hands." Innovation cannot come at the expense of workers’ privacy. Senator Elizabeth Warren and I are leading 119 of our colleagues from both parties and both chambers of Congress in urging Spirit Airlines and Google to protect workers’ sensitive personal information from identification, profiling, and misuse. Nearly 1,000 former Spirit Airlines employees in Nevada could be impacted. Their personal information should not be sold to train AI without strong, enforceable safeguards in place. Following the release of the U.S. Army’s report on the PSA Flight 5342 midair collision, ALPA President Capt. Jason Ambrosi called on Congress to require integrated ADS-B In technology for civilian and military aircraft and ADS-B Out transmission by military aircraft nationwide.

“The Army’s report is another call to action to honor the 67 lives lost over the Potomac on January 29, 2025, by making sure a tragedy like this never happens again," he said. "This accident could have been prevented if the PSA Flight 5342 aircraft and the U.S. Army Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter had been equipped with integrated ADS-B In technology."

“In addition, the Army’s report affirms multiple National Transportation Safety Board recommendations and validates the need for legislation requiring all military aircraft to transmit ADS-B Out nationwide," he continued. "These improvements are needed to close safety gaps identified during the accident investigation by ensuring airline pilots can see all other aircraft, including military aircraft."
