We arrived back home yesterday afternoon. What a fabulous week!! The weather was beautiful, on the hot side; and the music was incredible. The Saturday lineup included the Amanda Cook Band with an incredible banjo player/vocalist named Carolyne; the Larry Stephenson Band (we saw them in Floyd a couple years ago); the Malpass Brothers with their old time country swing and comedy, a drum set and pedal steel guitar in the band; and Southern Legacy with Don Grigsby.

The festival started Wednesday night with Nothin’ Fancy, and then 4 more groups each day Thurs-Sat with 10 hours of music Thurs-Sat!

If anyone wonders, it was under $350 for two admission tickets and a week of full hook-up camping site. We have signed up for next year already!!!

Looking forward to our next trip!

Another great day of music!!! First time seeing these groups in person: Dave Adkins, Fast Track, Pitney Meyer, and Chosen Road! All amazing!!! Love seeing musicians from one group playing with another.

We booked our reservation for next year’s festival. It will be held at Page County Fairgrounds.

A very warm day but a breeze in the evening. Wonderful day enjoying the talented musicians!

What a great day yesterday listening to music. First thing we drove the golf cart over the river to fill up with gas. Our campsite is in top of the mountain and it uses quite a bit of gas getting up and down that hill to the music pavilion. But love having the golf cart to go back and forth to camp…yesterday we cooled off inside for an hour…it was in the 90’s, and made sandwiches to bring back down with us.

It was a great day!

The Nothin' Fancy festival kicked off today.!! It started with the placement of chairs this morning, and tonight with a potluck for about 400 people and a kick off performance by Nothin Fancy!

Today we drove over the mountain and back through Lovingston and Montebello. The trout streams are all so low. Amherst County has water restrictions in place due to drought.

Yesterday we bought some Buffalo Creek Beef steaks (a local beef ranch) and cooked those for dinner with potatoes and onions. Mmmmm. Such a nice flavor with fresh beef.

We’re going to ride the golf cart down to the lower campground in a bit and see if there’s any impromptu music going on.

We had a good day enjoying nature, hanging out at the campsite and checking the local streams and river.

We are in Buena Vista, VA at Glen Maury Park for the Nothin’ Fancy Bluegrass Festival. Things kick off Wednesday with “chair placement” Wed am and a pot luck in the evening. The music runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11:00am to 10pm. We came early to get a good campsite with full hookups. We were guaranteed a campsite, but first come first serve.

We had lunch in Lexington after getting set up, and then came back to camp to watch the Redskins game.

A couple days to explore and reminisce…we lived in Lexington for 10 years.

We’re home and we had a great 14 day trip, spending the last 5 days in Chambersburg Twin Bridge Campground with Tim’s family! Twin Bridge is an amazing family campground and this was our 3rd annual Labor Day trip there.

1,000+ miles, camped in New York for the first time, camped in 2 campgrounds in NY and 4 in PA.

Had our own East Coast tailgate for the University of Washington game.

Here’s some pics from our time at Twin Bridge.

We’ll hit the road again Sunday.
