Today we have some tips for you for getting ready to move! At Ramsey’s Moving & Specialized Logistics we know it can be stressful boxing up your house and preparing to relocate, we’re happy to take some of that stress away! When boxing up your possessions it’s best to use a good quality tape and put 3 pieces on the bottom and top of the box after it’s packed. Low quality tape will peel off and can cause your box to bottom out and spill its contents all over the ground! When you are packing up, it’s best to go by room and label each box! When boxes are properly labeled it makes the move-in process simple, there’s no guesswork involved when the label is clear! When preparing your kitchen, many people think it’s best to pack plates horizontally, stacked up like they are in your cabinet, but unfortunately that’s the WORST way to pack plates! When stacked on top of each other the plates have a tendency to break and shatter, which is why we always recommend packing plates standing up vertically! Any glassware should be wrapped in white packing paper and cushioned inside a box, we recommend using a few pieces of packing paper or newspaper in the bottom of the box to create a nest for protection. For clothes and jackets it’s best to use wardrobe boxes as they allow your clothes to hang up neatly to prevent unwanted damage and wrinkles! We can provide boxes for you if you need them. We also provide packing services where we will professionally pack up your house to get ready to move! When preparing dressers and bureaus for moving, it’s best to empty them out. In addition to lessening the weight of your furniture, packing away the clothes will ensure there’s no valuables hidden in there that could be lost or damaged in transit, and you may even find something you haven’t seen in ages! We always recommend using mattress bags when moving mattresses. There’s nothing more important than a good night sleep, so protecting your mattress is a must! We provide 3mil mattress bags that are always new to provide the cleanest transport of your mattress. While mattress bags can be bought from stores, they are usually very thin and flimsy and tear easily, leaving your mattress exposed to the elements! Here we are moving a 3000 pound safe out of a basement in Havertown! The safe was located on top of a drain pipe, so we had to build a platform to be able to pipe the safe out to a spot where we could build a ramp to get it out of the house!
