International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) Duty Refund Guide

In February of 2026, the courts ruled that tariffs issued under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) were unconstitutional. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is now issuing tariff refunds that were deemed invalid by the U.S. Supreme Court via a new portal known as the Consolidated Administration and Processing of Entries (CAPE). Approved claims will be refunded within 60-90 days.

Six Years Later: High Stakes for USMCA Agreement

In July of 2026, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will undergo a joint formal review by representatives from each country. The unilateral free trade agreement that replaced the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) six years ago, is at a crossroad given high uncertainty and pressure related to tariff policies, geopolitical disruptions, and economic strains. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce states that USMCA supports 13 million American jobs related to trade with Mexico and Canada. In Detroit, the stakes are even higher.
