TWU Local 525 Firefighters at the Space Force Station are waiting to be deployed after Blue Origin’s New Glen anomaly to start battling fires in the woods and brush surrounding the launch pad to stop it from spreading further. The pad is still too dangerous to send in crews there. This is an extremely hazardous situation requiring a highly trained and well coordinated response.

TWU Local 525 in the 1960’s keeping Cape Canaveral snake free. In those days, the place was absolutely full of Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnakes. Charter member Ron Smith (Kevin Smith’s father) pictured on the left. Catching and selling these snakes weekly in Titusville at a Serpentarium was how they made some extra money for shop BBQ’s.

Contract Spotlight Time!

The CLOIS (Cape Launch Operations and Infrastructure Support) contract keeps Cape Canaveral Space Force Station running!

CLOIS functions like a “facilities superintendent” contract for almost all facilities at CCSFS. TWU Local 525 members provide the skilled maintenance, repair, and operational support that keeps mission-critical buildings, safe, powered, connected, and mission-ready—every day.

TWU Local 525 proudly represents the professionals behind this work, including:
Carpenters, Electricians, Plumbers, Mechanics, Ordnance Mechanics, Power Generation, Utilities, Environmental Controls, and many more.

Skilled labor. Strong contracts. Mission ready.

Even on the coldest day in over a decade, TWU Local 525 showed up. We brought homemade hot chocolate, insulated tumblers, and six gallons of cocoa to the dedicated parking attendants working at the busiest cruise terminal in the world.

Because taking care of our members is what we do — rain, shine, or freezing cold.

Huge thanks to Family Partnerships of Central Florida for the invite to be on the podcast! We truly appreciate the opportunity to share space, have meaningful conversations, and support the incredible work you’re doing for families in our community.

We are also happy to support the Breakfast with Santa event every year, an amazing event for local children that provides a fully catered meal and presents for every child along with meeting Santa. This effort is a true team win—made possible through the cooperation between Family Partnerships of Central Florida, Transport Workers Union, along with Local 525. We’re especially grateful that TWU International was able to contribute an additional $5,000 to support this cause and help make the day extra special for the kids and families we serve.

Together, our organizations are taking a forward-thinking approach to ensure that every fostering child across our four counties—and ultimately across the country—has access to the care, resources, and support they deserve.

This partnership is about more than collaboration; it’s about impact. When organizations come together with a shared purpose, real change happens. We’re excited for what’s ahead and honored to do this work together—for our communities, and most importantly, for the children who are counting on us.
