I have witnessed this more and more in the container drayage business. In South Florida, Pre-Pandemic prices to move a container from Port Everglades to Miami was $325 (Round Trip - pick up loaded container and return empty container) currently, we have been faced with rate increases almost monthly and the average rate for this same operation is now $750 - $1000. This is 2 to 3 times more than 3 years ago.

Very tough situation for the rail provider! As a 3PL, we like working “projects” as there is a lot of money involved, however, please do your homework as to whom you decide to service as your customers. We usually ask for prepayment on the first few loads or keep new customers in a small credit line to avoid this!
