Is there a market-fixed cost for an hour of downtime?

No! Detention depends on the company's policy, and each company has its own. Its cost can vary starting from around $25 to $100 per hour, and a broker can have influence over this. The broker is an intermediary between the supplier and the transport.

You can remind him of money - it's perfectly legal. And carefully check the detention limits in the rate confirmation. Rate confirmation is a cargo transportation agreement.

Read the documents before you sign it. If no limits are specified, ask the broker by e-mail about the cost of detention and when it occurs.

It’s important to learn these moments before doing trucking business. It will help you to save money and solve the problems quickly.
