Ahhh….. meet Ms. Valorie!

She is the vibrant Training & Safety Coordinator for the Transportation Department! She insures that our staff is in compliance with all local, state, and national governing entities.

What makes Val special is her knowledge of multiple positions within the department. She often fills roles that are essential to our department and enables us to handle the massive responsibility of transporting the City’s youth to and from school. 🚌

From training and certifying CDL Licensed drivers…to training employees to properly care for our special needs community, Val is her!!!!

We are blessed to have her on our Leadership Team!!!!

With 38 years of experience as a mechanic (including 17 years at MCAS) Dave is known for his exceptional work ethic, leadership, and commitment to supporting his transportation family.

His dedication to safety, teamwork, and leading by example truly reflects the Wolfie Way and the MCAS 7 Habits of Character.

What an Excellent Day at the MCAS Transportation Departmental Meeting!

We were graced to have Superintendent Dr. Wendel McCollum open the meeting and share with our team.

Dr. McCollum expressed his appreciation for our staff and placed great value on what we do.

It was a day of casting vision, building a healthy culture, and highlighting the way forward.

As a department, we have made a deliberate decision to provide a safe transport everyday for our children and make a positive impact on every community member that we come in contact with.

We have a team of Leaders who have accepted the challenge to be drivers and monitors who make a difference and care deeply about the responsibility of what we do on a daily basis.

Our meeting was themed, “The Way Forward Together”. A declaration of our commitment to growth and to serve our Community!

Our dedicated Transportation Team Mechanics are led by Foreman David Loraff.

Mr. Loraff cuts no corners because he knows the importance of a properly maintained fleet that will transport Michigan City Area Schools most important commodity….. “Our Youth!”

Mr. Loraff along with Assistant Foreman Steve Smith, Jacob Miller, and Davian Sanchez are great assets to the Transportation Department and bring a wealth of experience and pride to our safety protocols!
