Marine Trades Association of Baltimore County

Marine Trades Association of Baltimore County Formed in 1988, MTABC gives a pro-active voice for marine related businesses and communities in eastern Baltimore County. Become a part of the action!

Because of our efforts, considerable improvements have been made in the quality and safety of our local waterways. On behalf of all of the members of the Marine Trades Association of Baltimore County, I would like to thank you for visiting us. We hope that you will find the site interesting, informative, and helpful in your pursuit of all the pleasures that boating on the Chesapeake Bay can offer.

We also hope that this will give you at least a glimpse of all that the Baltimore County waterfront and its surrounding communities can provide. Formed in 1988 under the leadership of Gary Rosenberger of Cutter Marine, the goal of the MTABC was to present a pro-active voice for the marine related businesses and communities in eastern Baltimore County. Over the years, under the dedicated and capable leadership of Bob Palmer of Tradewinds Marina, Ray Porter of Porter’s Seneca Marina, Wayne Miskiewicz of Maryland Marina, John Polek of Sunset Harbor Marina and Raymond Porter of Porter’s Seneca Marina, all working closely with government, community, and business leaders, considerable improvements have been made in the quality and safety of our local waterways. Through a close relationship with the Marine Trades Association of Maryland, the Department of Natural Resources, the Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce, and legislators all around the area, we have kept our membership informed of legislation and various “quality of life” issues that affect recreational boating, as well as waterfront living. Today, the significance of the new millennium has been overshadowed by the foresight of former Baltimore County Executives Dutch Ruppersberger and Jim Smith, and their staffs, as they moved ahead with plans for major revitalization of the waterfront area. The Board of Directors of the Association are anxiously looking forward to continued growth of our organization, working with Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, and the increasing prosperity of the marine industry in Baltimore County.

2008 brought the anticipation of the new “Chesapeake Gateway at Crossroads” Welcome Center along Maryland Route 43. As a community-oriented association, MTABC has awarded over $100,000.00 in scholarships to local high school seniors for their college education since 1994. Funded primarily by the Fireworks Extravaganza, the latest awards were eight scholarships of $2500 each. In addition, MTABC sponsors specialized industry training for its members and their employees. If you are a business owner that serves the recreational boater or the waterfront property owner in Baltimore County, we encourage you to join and support our effort to showcase our waterfront as the viable resource we know it can be. Contact any of our members or call us at 410-687-1002 for an application, or simply download it from this site. Those of you who are recreational boaters, we invite you to experience what our local boaters have come to know as one of the very best boating regions on the Chesapeake Bay. Our marinas, boatyards, boat dealers and repair centers offer high quality services and products. Most of our marinas are within 10-20 minutes of major highways and less than 30 minutes from the Bay! For further information about our organization or for your free copy of the Baltimore County Waterfront Guide, send an e-mail to MTABC, or call us at 410-687-1002. May the wind be always at your back!
