We air dry our slabs 1 year per inch, to let the moisture slowly exit the wood. We find that patience produces flat slabs and mitigates splitting or defects. When the slabs are below 20% moisture content, we put them into the vacuum kiln for 4-6 weeks. A long process, but well worth the wait.
