An open letter-

Dear Amazing Supportive Community:

After a lot of consideration and soul searching, we have, unfortunately, come to the difficult decision to discontinue the bike rehabilitation and bike repair services.

We want to thank you all so much for donating bicycles, buying parts off of our Amazon Wish List, and supporting our vision over these past four years. During that time, we have rehabbed and rehomed over 700 used bikes, thanks to all of our wonderful supporters!!

It has been an amazing experience, for both of us. We have so much appreciated all of the love and support that we have received from the community during those four years. We feel very good about all of the bikes that we have been able to save from the landfill, and all of the people that we were able to provide with bicycles during that time. We never could have anticipated how much need there was, or how far-reaching the program would become. It has been unreal to be a part of it all.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen changes in both the economy and our personal situation, we now have less time available to spend working in the shop. That and issues with storage space have led us to make this difficult decision.

Because of this change, we are NO LONGER ABLE to accept bicycles for donation. Please help us get the word out around the community.

This has been a very difficult decision, but is necessary at this time. We pray that the community will be understanding and supportive as our lives transition to this next phase.

Thank you all for your tremendous support these past four years. We appreciate each and every one of you!

Most Sincerely,
Vern & Leslie White
Milan Bike Guy

To all of our amazing supporters:

We are currently working behind the scenes to relocate our drop off and storage space for bicycles. This may take a few weeks.

In the meantime, we ask that no more bikes be dropped off at our house. We will be posting the new drop-off point once we have it all set up and ready to go.

Thank you all for all of the support, donations and love over the past four years. We appreciate each and every one of you.

Vern & Leslie

Hello, Neighbors. If you see our truck out on the road in the next few months, driving extra slow and cautious, please be patient. Our Granddaughter just got her permit and we are teaching her to drive in our little pickup.

Today was her first day out and she did great for a first trip. (I do wish that I could say as much for the driver who tried to force her into the ditch on Mooreville Road because she wasn’t going fast enough for him. 🤯) A little patience and compassion goes a long way.

We want to say thank you so much to all of the businesses and people who came out to support our event last month.

We have several shirts left over, and this is the last time we plan to have T-shirts made. we will be selling these for $12 apiece, while supplies last. They are available at Danette’s thrift and gifts, 23 Wabash St. in Milan. Proceeds will go toward our upcoming projects for people with disabilities.

A sample T-shirt can be seen on the Moving Milan Forward scarecrow downtown, well “two-tired Terry”. Terry is located in front of Collins Center in downtown Milan.

Once again, thank you for all of the support that our community continues to provide us with. We couldn’t do it without all of you!

Have you seen all of the “red dots” on businesses around town? Have you heard what they mean??

21 local businesses have teamed up with us and Moving Milan Forward to offer some amazing deals!! Buy a button for $10, show it at these places and save some money, all while supporting Children’s Cancer Research Fund and the Milan Bike Guy’s bicycles for people with disabilities.

Deals are good now through Sunday, September 21st. (Note that many of these places are closed on Sundays though.)

Buttons will be available downtown this afternoon at Third Thursday, or you can buy one at Danette’s Thrifts & Gifts (where you can use it to get half off your other purchases!)

A million thanks to all of these businesses for joining us on this. We are so excited and grateful to have so much support in our community!!
