After all my years exploring Tuscany, I love that there are still places I’m discovering for the first time!

We decided to check out Bagni San Filippo, near Radicofani in southern Tuscany, and I'm so glad we did! The Balena Bianca (White Whale) was incredible to see in person, with its massive white mineral formations and gorgeous turquoise thermal pools. Photos really don't do it justice!

We also enjoyed wandering through the cute little village. Such a fun afternoon exploring somewhere new and a perfect reminder that some of Tuscany's best surprises are a little off the beaten path. 💙🇮🇹

A few days in Porto Venere were exactly the coastal escape we needed at the end of the summer season. ☀️

Just beyond the Cinque Terre, this little gem sits at the entrance to the Golfo dei Poeti, with colorful buildings along the harbor, winding lanes, and Palmaria Island across the bay. Our stay included a stunning ferry ride along the coast, a walk up to Doria Castle and out to the Church of San Pietro for incredible panoramas, and a long seafood lunch on Palmaria.

We had cappuccini with the morning light on the water, watched the sun set from the rocks near Byron’s Grotto, and turned around to find the harvest moon rising over the hills. It was spectacular!

And the food! Pesto, polpo, and mussels that couldn’t have been fresher. I’m happy to report that our “research” also involved a proper beach afternoon. 😉

Porto Venere deserves more than a quick stop on the way to the Cinque Terre. I’m already looking forward to sharing it with more Amici travelers.

Yesterday I took part in my first vendemmia at Tenuta GOLO, and it was every bit as fun as I hoped it would be. 🍇

Harvest season is such a special time in Tuscany. The vineyards are busy, the grapes are finally coming in, and you get a real appreciation for how much work goes into every bottle of w**e.

GOLO is a small, family-owned w**ery producing wonderful w**es just outside Montepulciano, which made it even more meaningful to share the experience with such good friends. Definitely one of those “wow, I really live here” moments.

Most visitors come to Spello to see the finished flower carpets. I'm so glad we arrived the day before to see them create it.

As beautiful as the Infiorate was, what captured my heart was watching the town prepare. Throughout the neighborhoods, giant "paint by number" designs stretched across the streets while families and friends gathered under tents with food and drinks, carefully pulling petals and filling baskets with colorful "paint." The atmosphere felt less like a festival and more like a neighborhood block party, full of community pride and tradition.

We spent the evening wandering Spello's flower-filled alleys, soaking in the energy and a gorgeous Umbrian sunset before returning the next morning for the unveiling.

The finished flower carpets were breathtaking. Knowing that these masterpieces had been created overnight made them even more impressive. The artists looked exhausted, children were asleep on mattresses in the piazzas, and I couldn't help but smile thinking about the memories being made. Imagine growing up saying, "Remember when we stayed up all night making flower carpets?"

The crowds were enormous, but experiencing both the preparation and the finished artwork made our first visit to Spello unforgettable.
