Remember to take care of your people, whether that's your employees or contractors.
Simple things like food, drinks, something.
Having people work for 6-7 hours without any refreshments really reflects on your organization and how low you respect people vs just seeing them as Vendors.
Take care of your people, because you are a good human being, versus just a cheap organization.
That can be something as simple as
- take Starbucks/caribou orders
- take orders for Chipotle and deliver to your crew working
Literally either of those boosts morale
But 6-7hrs and neither?
The crew will be ok, really they will say NOTHING, but that comes at a cost
Next time around, don't expect them to give you that discount like last time.
Don't be surprised when instead of them maybe just eating that extra 15 minutes of overtime, you get billed OT.
That extra piece of gear they don't charge rental for but should? Well, that may land on the invoice.
As a business, we eat a lot of costs without passing them on to the client. But if you don't treat us like humans, and it's "just business" then when you get the bill, it will be for the full amount for services rendered.
Which almost certainly exceeds the small savings on not treating your people right.
And beyond price, the increased morale for a crew when you offer up a free Starbuck run? Chipotle? Priceless.
The word of mouth from crew that highly sings your praise working with you? Brags about you to clients, recommends you to other companies that might need your services? Yeah, that's the freebies. P**f. Now you are the cheapskate that doesn't treat your vendors like humans.
You choose the narrative.
Have a great day 👍
