High-value freight does not allow room for assumptions.

In our internal operations review last week, we reinforced a non-negotiable standard: mandatory comprehensive insurance coverage for every complex and high-stakes load.

Standard carrier liability is built for basic commodities. When moving meats, frozen goods, premium produce, and temperature-sensitive freight, basic coverage is a direct vulnerability.

We require full-tier policy protection before a single truck rolls.

Our priority remains clear: protecting our clients’ capital, ensuring total compliance, and delivering complete peace of mind on every lane.

Onions don’t ride cold. They ride dry.

That’s the part shippers new to produce get wrong. An onion load isn’t a re**er problem — it’s an airflow problem. Those mesh bags aren’t packaging, they’re a ventilation system. Air has to move through the stack, or moisture collects where it can’t escape.

Onions breathe. Seal them under a tarp with nowhere to vent and that warm air condenses right back onto the product. That water is where decay starts — and where your claim starts.

So we tarp for rain and sun, never for suffocation. Product goes on the deck dry, cured, and stacked so air can travel. Then we watch it.

Onions, potatoes, melons — the loads that punish guesswork. Put yours with people who’ve moved them before.

A flatbed load doesn’t get to hide anything.

No walls, no doors… Just straps, edge protection, and math. Every load gets checked against weight and length before it leaves the dock: right strap count, right working load limit, corners protected so nothing gets cut through 400 miles in.

And it doesn’t stop at the gate. FMCSA requires a re-check within the first 50 miles, then every 150 miles or three hours after that, because a strap that was tight at 8am isn’t guaranteed to be tight at noon.

That’s the standard. Every load, every time.

Produce prices are about to move and it’s not about the weather at the farm.
Three pressures are stacking up in the cold chain right now:

The refrigerated fleet is aging out faster than it’s being replaced. Fewer re**ers means less room on the lane.

Summer demand for cold beverages and frozen freight is booking the same trucks fresh produce needs… peak heat means peak competition for cold space.

Diesel is up, and slower rail and port cycles are adding days to every move. None of that cost disappears.

It rides straight through to the shelf.

Vent open or closed — set for what’s inside, not what’s convenient.
