We are so excited to highlight a small, intentional business that offers in-home and prepared small-batch cooking to local Missoulians โ Ashen Ella Homestead! Not only does Ashen Ella Homestead share seriously mouth-watering recipes and homesteading tips, she also packages all of her products in fully compostable containers, sourced from Missoula Compost! Here's what Ashen has to say about why making the switch to compostable packaging was so important to her:
"Sustainability has always been really important to our business. We're huge supporters of zero-waste initiatives, reusing what you have, and making intentional choices that reduce waste whenever possible. Even before working with Missoula Compost, we offered compostable containers, reusable glass containers with bamboo lids, and also encouraged customers to bring their own containers when they preferred.
For us, choosing to work with Missoula Compost felt like a natural fit because supporting local initiatives and local businesses is a huge part of our brand values. We deeply believe in building stronger local systems โ whether that's through Montana-grown food initiatives like 33x33, sourcing locally when possible, or supporting businesses that are actively making a positive impact in our community.
What Missoula Compost is doing is incredibly important, and honestly, it's really special for a small growing business like ours to be connected with a company making such a meaningful difference locally. We're grateful to be a small part of that mission."
Check out for some seriously good food and to support a business that puts sustainability and community first!
