What does a new airport mean for our region?

It means less time in the car and more time where you want to be.

When Mobile International Airport opens, many travelers across Mobile and Baldwin Counties will have a shorter drive to the airport, helping vacations start sooner, business trips become more convenient, and connections feel a little closer to home.

🌀 The best time to prepare for a hurricane is before one is in the forecast.

Last month, Mobile International Airport welcomed the NOAA Hurricane Awareness Tour, bringing together experts from NOAA, the U.S. Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters, and emergency management agencies to help educate the public about storm preparedness.

Their message was simple: Make a plan. Stay informed. Be ready.

As hurricane season begins today, we encourage everyone along the Gulf Coast to take time to prepare before the next storm is on the horizon.

UPDATE: The air conditioning system is back up and running and the terminal is cooling down.

Thank you to our maintenance team for the quick work today, and thank you to our travelers for your patience while repairs were underway.

⚠️ Traveler Update at Mobile Regional Airport ⚠️

A lightning strike last night damaged part of our air conditioning system, impacting cooling in much of the terminal today.

Flights and airport operations are continuing as normal while our maintenance team works to install replacement parts and restore the system as quickly as possible. Temporary measures are also being put in place to help improve conditions in the terminal.

If you are traveling through MOB today, please be aware the terminal may be warmer than normal.

We appreciate your patience while repairs are underway.

This will be the boarding area at the future home of Mobile International Airport, and it’s starting to feel a lot more like an airport every month.

From the airport to the classroom ✈️🔬

Adam Hays, Mobile Airport Authority Acting Executive Director, recently visited Mrs. Hays’ 5th grade science class at Cottage Hill Christian Academy. Students put their engineering skills to work building homopolar motors using copper wire, batteries, and magnets to help visualize sustainable energy concepts.

Always a great day when future innovators get hands-on with science.
