The Unsexy Part of Travel
Not every part of travel planning is glamorous.

Sometimes it's private transfers, incredible restaurants and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
And sometimes...

It's travel protection.

But I spent time with travel protection companies at Future Leaders because I want to understand something much more important than simply “Do you offer insurance?”

I want to understand:
🔸 What does this actually protect?
🔸 What has changed?
🔸 What situations can be covered?
🔸 How can my clients use their benefits?
🔸 And what should they understand BEFORE they travel?

I learned about options that can include things like:
🔹 Coverage related to a sick or injured pet
🔹 Benefits such as a lounge pass when a covered flight is delayied
🔹 Coverage for job loss
🔹 Coverage if you need to come home from a trip early due to family back home being sick

The exact benefits depend on the policy, which is exactly why understanding the details matters.

I've always believed You should understand what you're purchasing.
And that's part of my job, too.

But then I’m going to ask you a whole lot more questions.

Because “I want to go to Italy” doesn’t tell me nearly enough!

Do you want adventure? 🪂

This slide from Audley Travel stopped me because it put words around something I’ve been trying to communicate for a long time:

I dont strive to simply be a travel advisor who specializes in destinations…

I am an Experiential Travel Advisor.

I want to know what you want to feel, experience, learn, taste, discover and remember.

Because two people can both say:

“I want to go to Italy.”

And I could create two completely different trips.

One might revolve around food, markets and local chefs.

Another might focus on history, culture and traditions.

Another might be built around adventure and the outdoors.

Same country.

Completely different vacation.

That’s where customized travel becomes truly customized.

And that’s why I ask so many questions before I ever start researching.

I’m not just planning where you’re going. I’m designing around WHY you want to go.

How do I choose which travel suppliers (cruise line, resort, hotels, tour companies) to match you with?

I don’t look at which company pays me the most commission and then try to fit you into their product.

That’s not how I built Never Settle Travels.

My process starts with YOU!
🔹What do you want to experience?
🔹How do you like to travel?
🔹What matters most?
🔹What is going to make this trip feel special?

Then I look at the suppliers available and ask:
❓Who is the best partner to make THIS trip happen?
❓Sometimes that’s one company.
❓Sometimes it’s several.
❓Sometimes it’s a smaller, more specialized partner you’ve probably never heard of.

That’s why I spend time meeting suppliers in person.
🏆I want to know their strengths.
🏆Their specialties.
🏆Their style.
🏆Their service.
🏆Their limitations.
🏆Their people.

So when I’m sitting down to design your itinerary, I’m not starting with:
“What can I sell you?”

I’m starting with:
“Who can best help me create what you’re envisioning?”

There’s a big difference!
And it’s one of the reasons I’m incredibly proud of the reputation Never Settle Travels has built. Including being recognized twice as a Southlands Best Travel Agency.
