Today we want to shine a light on one of our very own, Buzz .💙
Buzz has a beautiful way of putting into words what so many in our community experience every single day. Through this poem, he captures the heart behind what CARTS truly stands for — connection, independence, friendship, and reliable transportation for the people of Cullman County.
“Needing a Lift”

So, as I stepped down and looked around my home at last, I felt I had been found.
There before me stood newly refurbished apartments and within were several handy compartments. So, I thought, with all this space, I should be able to stock the place.
And as I began to wonder, how will I ever get over yonder? My new neighbor, Art, exclaimed! “Just call CARTS”. So, he kindly handed me a brochure that had all the details for sure.
And the more I read, it began to fill my head, why the folks in these parts, rely on CARTS. A day for shopping with friendly faces as we travel to different places. And, when I climbed aboard, the driver was very kind, as she had silver hair, like mine. And when it’s necessary to refill those pills that help to adjust my motor skills, CARTS will lend a hand to complete my medical plan.
And if you’re looking for a friendly face to help keep the pace, CARTS will let you enter the Senior center. Where you just might fill an urgent need and find a friend indeed.
And with each passing day I get a little older, it’s clear to see, I’m moving much slower. But no need to worry, when I’m in need of transportation, CARTS will help me reach my destination.
