We all love planning the big trips, but don't sleep on what's close to home.

I've been meaning to check out The Toy and Action Figure Museum in Pauls Valley for over a decade. Kept putting it off. Now I find out they're closing at the end of the month.

Right after that news, I learn the Seaba Station Motorcycle Museum in Warwick is closing at the end of the year too. I've been there plenty of times, but I was already planning another visit before I heard.

Lesson here: don't neglect the cool spots near you. They might be gone before you get around to it. Go see the local stuff while it's still there.

Emotionally vulnerable moment ahead:

We moved the kiddo into her dorm today... and it's been harder than I expected. Her whole life I've told myself the goal was to make her a productive member of society so she could go off on her own, and succeeding at the goal has left me with some seriously mixed feelings. I'm more proud of her than she will ever understand, but I already miss my buddy.

Now that I'm done being sappy, I'm really excited too see what the next chapters of her life look like.

Go kick some ass kiddo.
