Gallagher Marine Systems was honored to participate in the 2026 T&T Salvage Seminar, held at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore.

This year’s program featured critical discussions on maritime security, Arctic salvage operations, evolving global sanctions, and key issues shaping the future of the industry.

We were especially proud to have John Griffin represent GMS, delivering a case study on a 2019 oil spill incident and sharing valuable insights gathered from our operational experience.

We closed out April with the successful completion of our Focus Training Seminar (FTS) and North American Regulatory and Technical Services Seminar, held in Athens, Greece. The event provided an excellent opportunity to connect with industry colleagues and partners while engaging in meaningful dialogue on today’s evolving maritime landscape.

The seminar was led by our Vice President of Emergency Management, Kevin Perry, alongside Senior Vice President of Technical Services, Nish*t Kapoor, and Irena Veroni, Managing Director of Marispond (Hellas). We were also pleased to welcome Anna Spilli of T&T Salvage as our guest speaker, who contributed valuable industry insight to the discussions.

During a productive full‑day program, participants explored key regulatory, operational, and technical challenges currently facing the global shipping industry.

Our sincere thanks to our compliance partners and all attendees for their engagement and collaboration, and to those who joined us afterward for an enjoyable evening gathering to close out a successful day.

We’re pleased to share the successful completion of our recent North American Regulatory and Technical Services Seminar, held in the beautiful city of Istanbul, Turkey. It was a privilege to return to such a remarkable location and reconnect with valued industry colleagues and longtime partners.

The seminar was led by our President, Thomas Wiker, who was joined by Senior Vice President of Technical Services, Nish*t Kapoor, and Ms. Irena Veroni, Managing Director of Marispond (Hellas). We were also honored to welcome Mr. Ellias Psyllos, Vice President of T&T Salvage and current President of the American Salvage Association, as our guest speaker.

During a productive full‑day session, participants engaged in in‑depth discussions on key regulatory and technical challenges currently facing the global shipping industry.

A sincere thank‑you to our compliance partners and attendees for their active participation and for joining us afterward for a celebratory rooftop gathering overlooking the Bosphorus, a perfect way to close the day.

It is with great sadness to share that Gallagher Marine Systems (GMS) lost an amazing person on January 18th. Our Steve Garcia succumbed to cancer after a courageous fight of several years. Always energetic and positive, Steve lit up every conversation he was a part of. His unwavering work ethic led him to be the first one to the job and the last one to leave as he let no detail go unnoticed or unaddressed. Steve, a retired U.S. Coast Guardsman, joined GMS in 2016 and quickly became a key cog in growing our readiness as Director of Emergency Response. To this day, many of his processes, workflows and systems continue to serve as the foundation of our emergency response capabilities. His love and appreciation for life were unmatched as he committed himself to his family, his work and his hobbies with an incredible amount of passion, care and energy. Steve had a great sense of humor and was a true leader, companion and friend that will be terribly missed by all of us. We are forever grateful for his endearing commitment to the GMS family and for teaching us all so much about our profession and life in general. He was someone to emulate and we are blessed to have been touched by him. We are happy to say that he is now pain free and at peace and will be watching over the GMS family moving forward. God bless you Steve, you will be sorely missed.

Gallagher Marine Systems at NPREP Exercise – Georgia Tech Campus, Savannah, GA

Gallagher Marine Systems was recently invited to participate in the recent National Preparedness for Response Exercise (NPREP), held at Georgia Tech Campus in Savannah, Georgia, alongside a strong group of local industry partners. This event brought together key players in maritime safety and response, including the U.S. Coast Guard, T&T Salvage, CMA CGM, and local industry partners.

The discussion-based exercise focused on evaluating the impacts of hazardous events in the Port of Savannah, with a special emphasis on the growing concern around electric vehicle and battery fires in U.S. ports. As these new challenges arise, collaboration and shared insights are essential in strengthening our collective preparedness.

During our recent NJ Focus Training Seminar, we decided to commemorate someone who shaped the heart of GMS, our former president, Jack Gallagher. Jack’s leadership left a lasting impact on all of us, and his legacy continues to inspire everything we do.

Anyone who knew Jack also knew his deep love for one thing in particular, Spaghetti Bolognese. So, in true Jack fashion, we’re celebrating his memory the way he would’ve wanted, with good food and great company.

From the Office to the Fairway – What a Week at GMS! ⚓⛳

The Gallagher Marine Systems team transitioned from our Moorestown, NJ headquarters to the Seaview Golf Resort in Galloway, NJ to welcome our compliance partners for this year’s Focused Training Seminar (FTS).

The FTS featured a table-top exercise and in-depth case study discussions on real-world incidents shaping today’s maritime policy. Thank you to our presenters from Blank Rome Maritime, MTI Network, Intertanko, Resolve Marine, ITOPF, UK P&I/Thomas Miller (Americas), Polaris Applied Sciences, and The Liberian Registry (LISCR) for your contributions, each made enlightening and insightful presentations about real time issues which the shipping community face.

The day concluded with a networking cocktail reception, followed by dinner at the historic Smithville Inn.
