As much as Pokémon has become a business for a lot of us over the past few years, I share this as a reminder of what it’s like to be a kid, to experience opening packs/products. This interaction was with someone I bought a vintage box from a year ago. Their son (who I believe is 10 or just under), had their friends’ birthday last week. The dad reached out to me to see if I had any mystery bags left from our last run. I didn’t, but whipped together some odds and ends that included a CGC slab, a still wrapped playmat, 4 packs of SV, a few small toys, and a small binder that I filled with various modern and vintage cards from NM to LP. Absolutely made this kids day, which in turn made mine. Sometimes we get so caught up in the business, we forget to appreciate Pokémon for what it is. So take just a moment to forget the values of each card, and just remember what it was like to be young, experiencing the thrill of opening new packs, trading with your friends, and showing off your favorite cards. Don’t forget to pay it forward once in a while. 🫶🤙🏻
