🚨 COLD WEATHER PSA FROM NORTHSTAR PONTOONS 🚨

When temperatures drop below 32°F, water left trapped in your boat’s motor or cooling system can freeze and expand potentially causing expensive damage including:

- Cracked engine blocks: Expanding ice can crack the block, leading to major repairs or engine replacement.
- Cracked exhaust manifolds: Water remaining inside can freeze and split manifolds on inboard and sterndrive engines.
- Damaged water pumps and housings: Trapped water can freeze and crack housings or damage cooling components.
- Split hoses and damaged fittings: Expanding ice can rupture hoses and break connections, causing leaks.
- Cracked lower units: If water has leaked into the gearcase, it can freeze and crack the housing.

⚠️ Damage depends on how cold it gets, how long it stays cold, and where water is trapped. A brief dip below freezing doesn’t automatically mean damage but waiting puts your motor at risk.
