This Sunday, August 2nd in Tennessee…the Manchester Watermelon Festival takes place as one the summer’s best and final events here in the Volunteer State! From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Safe Storage parking lot at 2050 Hillsboro Boulevard will fill with food, music, shopping, and plenty of watermelon-themed fun. Admission and parking are both free, making this an easy family outing before school starts back. More than 60 vendors will be set up throughout the festival, along with food trucks serving a variety of meals, snacks, and treats. Free watermelon will be handed out while supplies last, and a DJ will keep music playing all day. Kids can enjoy a free activity zone, face painting, a watermelon-smashing station, and a foam party from noon until 2 p.m. Families should bring extra clothes and a towel, and the first 200 children will receive a free goodie bag. The Mid State Cloggers will perform from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by the watermelon-eating contest at 2 p.m. Sign-ups begin in person at 1:30, with winners receiving a $25 gift card to 931 Market Co. You can also join the Watermelon Crawl and celebrate one day before National Watermelon Day in Manchester!
