Meet The Team! This month, we're happy to introduce Matt Cook!

Matt has worked here at Fisher Transportation for 10 years. Over that time, he has enjoyed traveling throughout Michigan, seeing new places, and meeting new people along the way. When asked what is one thing others may not realize about being a Truck Driver, Matt said: "People don't always realize how important stopping distance really is. While it may look like trucks can stop quickly, that is not the case, and it requires extra awareness from everyone on the road."

When it comes to truck snacks, Matt keeps it simple with a go-to combo of Chex Mix and beef sticks. Matt wanted to leave a good tip for any new drivers just getting started: "Saddle up and enjoy the ride, and definitely watch out for others out there, because they're not always watching out for you."

Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending time with his family, especially taking vacations to Florida with his wife and kids, and of course their dog, who he says is basically their third kid. He also enjoys annual Canadian fishing trips each summer, working on his hobby car, and most importantly, watching his children achieve their dreams.

Through our partnership with Family & Children's Services of Mid-Michigan, all Employees and their families have access to five free mental health visits annually through our Employee Assistance Program. Additionally, our Health Benefits Plan treats mental health services on par with medical services.

Introducing April's Employee Spotlight: Jim Cotter!

Jim has worked for Fisher Transportation for 33 years. When asked what he enjoys most about his job, Jim said "I love traveling on the roads, seeing different sights, and not sitting at a desk." A piece of advice Jim wants to leave for truck drivers starting out is "Be happy, don't take things too seriously. Life is too short to always be stressed. Enjoy what you do and have fun with it!"

Over the years, Jim was given the nickname "Trash Man" and while others might think it is because he is always messy, it is actually the opposite. Jim prides himself in keeping his truck looking pristine...installing WeatherTech mats AND placing towels on top of them so dirt is easy to clean off! He officially got his nickname from a past job as a trash collector, prior to working for Fisher Transportation.

✨ One of the joys of the Christmas Season is spreading cheer throughout our community. Our team embraced the holiday spirit by decorating a truck for the local lighted Christmas parades!

We would like to give a special shout-out to our driver, Jim Cotter, as well as Blake Moore, Nolan Moore, Aidan White, and our other amazing team members for their hard-work decorating this year's truck with over 9,000 lights! We are incredibly thankful for their time, effort, and dedication to this fun project. Merry Christmas to all!
