Team MVN is saddened to report the passing of CFII/MEII Curtis "Ray" Xanders. Ray handled advanced instruction duties for Outland Flight of late, but has been instructing at KMVN for over 20 years. He was also a corporate pilot flying Beech King Air turboprops and twin Cessna aircraft at Mt. Vernon Outland and Fairfield Municipal Airports. In September, 2021, a Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award was presented to Ray by the FAA Springfield, Illinois Flight Standards Office for over 50 years of safe aviating. When one flew with Ray, he had better be prepared - exactly what is needed in the cockpit. Ray's professionalism, knowledge of procedures, and quick wit will be greatly missed.
