We invite you to step aboard the Sea Era for a time of relaxation, fun, excitement, and world-renown sportfishing. Enjoy the wind in your face, the smell of the salt air, and the breathtaking scenery of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Harvest tilefish, cobia, stripers, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, etc. from the waters of the Atlantic or local sounds. Designed, constructed, and operated by Dean J

ohnson, the Sea Era is a 42 foot charter boat in its maiden year of operation. Yet behind the wheel of this Carolina beauty is a captain with personal experience and knowledge of the waters of the Graveyard of the Atlantic . Captain Dean Johnson is a native of the Outer Banks and has nearly forty years in the fishing industry. He began his career as a mate out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center in 1969 and went on to earn his captain’s license in 1977. From that time until 2002, Dean captained off-shore charters where he met many interesting people and helped make many dreams come true with catches of billfish, tuna, dolphin, and wahoo. In 2001 Dean decided to try another venture in the boat business. He began Johnson Boat Works, Inc. where they design and build custom sportfishing boats, both large and small. Recently, though, the “itch and call” of the water began to resurface, so Dean is returning to fishing while owning and operating Johnson Boat Works. He runs charter trips along the coast aboard the Sea Era, a vessel very dear to his heart, not only because he designed and built her with his own two hands, but also because she’s named for his beautiful granddaughter, Alyssa Sierra (using a play on words)! Sea Era is berthed at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center in Nags Head, NC, only minutes from abundant fishing grounds. So whether it’s simply to enjoy the thrill of bringing your own catch from the sea to your kitchen table, for sight-seeing, or simply to “ get away from it all”, spend some quality time with us. Take advantage of Captain Dean’s experience and enjoy his friendly personality aboard his beautiful boat on North Carolina ’s pristine Outer Banks – a fishing paradise. It will be an experience you are not likely to ever forget.

As always, it’s about the kids! Miss Chloe boated about 50 Spanish mackerel 10 or so bomacks and a few nice blues in the mix. The best part about it she did most of it by herself while being rained on. One tough 9 year old cutie!! Couldn’t get a picture of the catch, it was raining too hard. C U

What a difference one day makes! Yesterday cobia everywhere, today nowhere, until later in the afternoon. Thanks to Mike Merritt and Devin Cage my day would have been a disaster!!! With about an hour left in my day these guys called me to a school of Red Drum of which we caught a dozen or so. My charter was totally stoked as was myself and Ian. Although the Drum were released we still had picked up enough Spanish for a good dinner. People helping each other is what made Oregon Inlet what it is, the best charter fleet in the world👍. C U

Been thinking a lot about my captain, mentor, boss and most of all my friend, Buddy Davis. I owe most of what I know about fishing and boatbuilding to this man. Everything that he learned as Omie Tilletts mate he instilled in me, or tried to. From the Vermont skiing trips to the Omgif card games with Joey and Vickie Daniels and Rusty and Caroline Stetson, these are times I cherish. RIP my friend, you left us way too soon.

Outstanding cobia fishing again today. We had two half days today so we were limited to how far we could go. We still had great fishing close to the Inlet. We had Bond, James Bond with us this afternoon along with his son Brennan who just happened to catch the two biggest fish of the day. Great job Brennan, congrats. But the fishing was the best that many said they had ever seen further south. Got an all day tomorrow, can’t wait. C U

Wow, it was great to get in the ocean again!!! After a cold winter and physical therapy for my new knee, it sure felt good just to be out there. And to top it off we had great fishing with plenty of blues and cobia. Had a great charter who really appreciated the the time on the water and the fish as a bonus, they even took them to Lone Cedar to have them cooked up. Come get some of these cobia with us while they are thick. C U
