There’s something pretty great about doing business with people who are also your neighbors.

DJ’s Lake Country Boats isn’t a chain. We live here, work here and spend our time on the same lakes you do.

When you choose a local business, you’re supporting people in your own community — and helping keep more of those dollars right here in Lake Country.

We’re grateful every time someone trusts us with their boat.

Because around here, supporting local really does mean supporting your neighbors. ❤️⚓

Shop local. Hire local. Keep Lake Country strong.

Wisconsin September boating starter pack:

☀️ Sunscreen
🕶️ Sunglasses
🧥 Hoodie
🩳 Shorts
🧤 Possibly gloves
🌡️ Absolutely no idea what temperature it will be six hours from now

And somehow…we love it. 😂

Enjoy these last warm lake days while we have them.

Then when YOUR season is over—not when the calendar says it should be—get that boat winterized and tucked away safely for winter.

Until then?

We’ll see you on the water. 🚤⚓

Possibly our favorite part of this business:

You don’t have to figure out how to get your boat to us.

We come to you. 🚤

At your home.
At your dock.
At your boat.

That’s especially nice at the end of the season when you already have enough things to coordinate without adding “haul the boat somewhere for service” to the list.

For winterization, pick your date online and we’ll come to you when you’re finished boating for the season.

One less errand.

We’re big fans of those.

Your boat has been trying to tell you something. 😂
That weird noise.
The electrical issue you’ve been ignoring.
The starter that works…most of the time.
The thing you keep saying, “We’ll deal with it in spring.”

Here’s the problem with that plan:
"Spring-You" is going to want to put the boat in the water the first hot day.
"Spring-You" is NOT going to want to start the season with $$$ repairs.

If something needs attention now, fall is a great time to take care of it before the boat goes into storage. (Because we promise it won't fix itself.)

Fix it.
Winterize it.
Put it away knowing it’s ready for next season.

That sounds a whole lot better than discovering the same problem on the first beautiful Saturday in May. 🚤

What does being a retired firefighter have to do with fixing boats?

More than you might think.

David spent decades in the fire service, where staying calm, troubleshooting quickly and figuring out what went wrong was simply part of the job.

Add roughly 30 years of mechanical experience and you get a guy who actually enjoys the question:

“Okay…why is this thing doing THAT?” 😂

Whether it’s diagnostics, maintenance, electrical issues or getting your boat ready for winter, problem-solving is kind of his thing.

Before you put the boat away for winter, here’s your quick mental checklist:

✅ Last ride of the season
✅ Remove food, towels and anything that can trap moisture
✅ Clean out compartments
✅ Take care of batteries as appropriate
✅ Make sure fuel and engine systems are prepared properly
✅ Winterize
✅ THEN store it

The important part? Winterization comes BEFORE the boat disappears into storage for the next several months.

That’s why September is a great time to get the appointment on the calendar—even if you’re nowhere near ready to stop boating yet.

Boats are a big part of our lives—but they aren’t the only thing that keeps us busy around Lake Country. 🐾

In our spare time, we’re also involved in lost-dog recovery and animal rescue work.

That can mean everything from helping search for a frightened missing dog to setting up equipment, following sightings or supporting families while they wait for their pet to come home.

It’s definitely not glamorous work.

But when a dog finally gets home safely?

Worth every muddy shoe, late night and mosquito bite.

We’re pretty lucky to live and work in a community where people show up for one another—whether somebody needs help with a boat or help bringing a four-legged family member home. ❤️

Your winterization appointment should be the LAST thing your boat does before storage.

Not necessarily today.
Not next weekend.
Not because somebody spotted one orange leaf and panicked. 🍂😂

You can keep enjoying your boat.

Just book your winterization now and choose the date that fits your end-of-season plans.

That way, when you finally say, “Okay, that was the last ride,” you already know what comes next.

And because DJ’s Lake Country Boats is mobile, we come to you.

Winterizing your boat isn’t just about checking a box before storage.

Proper winterization helps protect your engine and other systems from freezing temperatures, moisture, corrosion and damage while your boat sits through a Wisconsin winter.

And unfortunately, getting it almost right isn’t always enough.

We recently heard from a family who tried to winterize their boat themselves.

“Something went wrong in the process.”

The damage ultimately resulted in a total loss.

That’s a heartbreaking — and expensive — way to learn how important this last step of the season really is.

If you’re comfortable winterizing your own boat, great. Just make sure you know exactly what your boat and motor require.

If you’d rather leave it to someone who does this every season, we make it easy:

📅 Book online now
🗓️ Pick the date that works for YOU
🚤 Keep boating until then
🏠 We come to you when you’re ready

No rushing your season.

No waiting until the last minute trying to find an appointment.

Just get your date on the calendar now and enjoy the rest of your lake days.

The ’ber months have entered the chat. 🍂👻

Some of Lake Country is already mentally in spooky season…

…and the rest of us are looking at the forecast wondering how many more lake days we can squeeze in. 😂🚤

So which one are you?

🎃 Team Spooky Season — hoodies, bonfires, pumpkins, bring it on.

🚤 Team Not Yet — the boat is staying in until Wisconsin weather personally removes us from the lake.

We’re Team Not Yet. 😎

How long are YOU keeping the boat in this year? 👇
