Livin’ my life thru the bottom of the bottle
Speedin’ my youth away, runnin’ full throttle
I’m a new age country rebel, playing rockabilly metal
So everybody sing along to this modern day outlaw, singing them Outlaw songs”
-----“Outlaw Songs”, Jake Bowers

A modern day outlaw or a jack of all trades? Rising country artist Jake Bowers may be a little bit of both. If the Oklahoma native wasn’t leading his high school football team to the State Championship as an All Star Quarterback, he was topping off his Senior year as Northwest Oklahoma Baseball Player of the Year. And then there was a different kind of field, one full of riding horses and roping. But before sports and livestock made him a recognized name in his hometown of Helena, there were other ropes he had to learn: the ropes of the music business. His parent’s band, Whiskey Moon, toured all over the US in the 90s, with his daddy as the frontman singer and his mama as the vocal/instrumental/writer extraordinaire. And seeing that his mama was pregnant with him on the road, the phrase, “being born into it” takes on a whole new meaning. At 13, he joined his family on tour and cut his teeth at h***y tonks every weekend. At 16, his mama took him to Nashville for the first time, where he fell in love. By 17, he had recorded his first album and written all the songs, which eventually led to sharing the stage with artists like Granger Smith and C**t Ford.
And now at 27, he has found himself writing with Nashville songwriters Ashton Shepherd, Tony Stampley, and Arlos Smith, just to name a few. Currently in Dog Ear Studios working with James Laritz and Randy Rich, he is gearing up to release his third EP in February 2019. Influenced by the greats like Merle Haggard, Steve Earle, and Radney Foster, the now Nashville resident has written four out of the six songs. And if you ask him, he’ll tell you it’s his best yet.
“I feel like I have finally found myself as a singer/songwriter and I’m ready to showcase my style with the world,” Bowers says. “I just want to make a living doing something I love and be able to share my life experiences with others thru my music.”
The new year will also bring single releases to the Texas Billboard Regional Charts and a tour, which Bowers is extremely excited about. And fans of outlaw country can expect nothing short of authentic vocals, a down to earth personality, and high energy showmanship.
Can’t wait til February? Check out his new Christmas video thru TCMrecordsnashville, “Christmas Tree Song (Don’t Hang My Balls)” or any of his other releases, like “Ridin” and “Don’t Deserve My Name.” Bowers can be found on socials .
