Crews have wrapped up directional drilling along Terminal Drive for the new parking garage and rental car facility that is part of New Horizon.

One tunnel, zero cars, dozens of electrical lines. The 48‑inch drill completed a 125‑foot long underground bore to relocate existing electrical lines, moving about 12 feet each day over an 11‑day period. The completed relocation clears the footprint for the new, bigger, better parking garage and rental car facility at BNA®, coming in the next few years.

This work was done beneath Level 1 Arrivals and Departures to keep passenger traffic flowing smoothly.

Each year, our K9 officers and their handlers must pass a TSA Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) K9 Evaluation to ensure the highest standards of safety and security at BNA®.

We're proud to announce that Sergeant Eady (K9 Trixi), Officer Beard (K9 Sasha), and Officer Green (K9 Jack Jack) have all recently passed this annual evaluation. Please join us in congratulating them. We're proud of their hard work and dedication every day.

The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) celebrated the 2026 fiscal year (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026), marked by outstanding growth, innovative partnerships, and national recognition for both Nashville International Airport®, also known as BNA®, and John C. Tune Airport®, also known as JWN®.

Some highlights include:

•A record 26.7 million passengers—a 7.7% increase over the previous year and the highest in its history.
• New Single-Record: On Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, BNA welcomed 116,047 total passengers.
• Record-breaking Fall Break: 2,550,000 million passengers traveled through BNA in October 2025, a 10% increase over 2024, supported by 13,804 commercial flights.
• New Milestone in Air Service: BNA celebrated 115 nonstop destinations in June 2026—the most in its history.
•The grand opening of the Concourse D extension, the first project completed under New Horizon.
•The closure of Concourse A: Now under complete demolition and reconstruction, the new concourse—opening July 2028—will feature 16 gates, significantly expanded facilities, new concessions, improved amenities and upgraded passenger spaces including an outdoor terrace and mezzanine level airline lounges.

Yesterday, our Operations team hosted a National Safe Skies Alliance (PARAS 0071) research project panel on Integrating Incident Command System (ICS) in Airport Security and Emergency Response. The panel brought together airport operations, public safety, and emergency management teams from across the country to collaborate on developing comprehensive guidance for implementing the ICS framework, with emphasis on security and operational excellence.

We welcomed representatives from Dallas Love Field, Charlotte Douglas International Airport - CLT, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Jacksonville International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Tampa International Airport.

This closure will take place August 3 -5, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., and August 10-12, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

The Concourse D Extension has been recognized with an Award of Merit in the Airport/Transit category by Engineering News-Record as part of ENR’s 2026 Southeast Best Projects. This honor highlights the exceptional collaboration, craftsmanship, and innovation that helped bring this important BNA® expansion to life.

Each year, Engineering News-Record celebrates the region’s most outstanding achievements in design and construction, and we’re proud to see Concourse D Extension stand among this year’s honorees. Delivered through a strong partnership with Southwest Airlines, HENSEL PHELPS, Fentress Architects, and a wide network of dedicated industry professionals, the Concourse D Extension reflects our continued commitment to enhancing the passenger experience and supporting the ongoing growth at BNA®.

The Concourse D Extension was the first project completed under the New Horizon program, marking the beginning of the next phase in development at BNA®, preparing Nashville's airport for 40 million annual passengers in the next decade.

Our inner aviation geek was activated when we saw this plane land at BNA®.

Last night, the legendary B-29A Superfortress 44-62070 “Fifi”—one of only two airworthy B-29s left in the world—touched down in Nashville. Our team was excited to have the opportunity to live out an aviation dream and get an up-close look at this iconic piece of history.

Today, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) held its Oath of Office and Commissioning Ceremony, welcoming Officers Bryan Levering, Antwuan Gantt, Devin Keen, and Jonah Smiley to their new roles. In addition, DPS celebrated the promotions of Sean Powell and Taylor Cash to Sergeant, Marc Christian to Lieutenant, and Dalton Engstrom to Captain.
