I can’t explain how exciting it is to me to get photos and “love notes” from my clients while they are still on vacation!

Now that I’ve survived September in Alaska 😂… here’s what I actually used — especially for active excursions, whale watching, glaciers & rainy days!

PACK IT:
🧶 Merino wool base layer + leggings (worth every penny - naturally odor resistant, wear multiple times without washing)
🧦 Merino wool socks (no blisters)
🥾 Waterproof trail shoes (non-negotiable)
🌧️ Waterproof jacket with a hood (non-negotiable)
👖 Waterproof or water repellent hiking pants
🧤 Waterproof tech-finger gloves (still gotta take pix!)
🧢 Cozy knitted fur headband (purchased in Sitka!)
☔ Umbrella (yep, you’ll still need it)
👚 Sweatshirts + flannels for layering
✨ Spirit Jerseys — obviously 😉

WISH I’D BROUGHT:
🤎 UGGs for cozy ship days
👕 MORE lightweight long-sleeved layers!

DIDN’T NEED:
❌ Puffer jacket
❌ Scarf
❌ T-shirts
❌ Capris
❌ Shorts — Alaska said, “That’s cute.” 😂

Biggest lesson? LAYERS, LAYERS, LAYERS.
And if you’re whale watching or anywhere near a glacier, dress warmer than you think you need to. That wind off the water is NO JOKE. 🥶🐋

One final tip: Scotchguard your jeans!

After my own Alaska adventure, I’m a big fan of that 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴. Give me the salmon, the bears looking for those salmon, the whales, the eagles and all that gorgeous Alaska scenery. 🐻🐋🦅 (and lighter crowds!)

Now take all of that and 𝗮𝗱𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘆, 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲, 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲.

And one thing I’ll keep saying after this trip: 𝗯𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀! Getting off the ship and REALLY experiencing Alaska is where those bucket-list memories are made.

After finally checking Alaska off my own bucket list, I can say this: 𝗚𝗢.
