Closing Business.

It is with a heavy heart that Southern Seas Marine Services LLC. will be closing.

Due to the economic environment and labor challenges over the past few years, as well as personal reasons, I am concerned that I cannot continue to deliver the quality of service you have come to expect. Additionally, my full-time job demands priority, and there is no workaround.

Decisions like this are usually bittersweet. For me, it is mostly bitter. While I might have a reduction in physical and mental demands, I have greatly enjoyed getting to know each of you. I will certainly miss our interactions while taking care of your pride and joy.

There will be no further monthly services, or work brought into the shop under Southern Seas Marine Services LLC. As for any pending work or related warranty time, the work will be completed, and the warranty period honored.

My son, Cody, which most of you know by now, intends to continue this as a business venture on his own. Existing customers know his work ethic and quality of service. I sincerely appreciate any opportunity you might give him. If you would like for him to continue your regularly scheduled services or upcoming detail, please let me know, and I will have him contact you.

Southern Seas Marine is growing!

We now have additional availability for monthly services for docked vessels, generally in excess of 30 feet.

Everyone who has a boat or yacht, knows that upkeep can be a full-time job. This is in addition to the two or more times a year that it needs detailed and waxed. Not only can these expenses add up quickly, but after just a few weeks of our wonderful NC weather, pollen and mold, and your pride and joy can look like it hasn’t been touched in years.

With average use, most vessels require polishing and waxing about every four months. Think about what you paid the last time you had this service performed. Our monthly service plans typically equate to less than the cost of one detail, and your vessel always looks pristine.

Our monthly service begins after a thorough detail, either by you or us, then we schedule a time that works for you. We wash it, wipe everything down, and treat areas requiring special maintenance such as isinglass, stain remediation, and mold and mildew prevention. In addition, we will continually address areas of high traffic or where it needs additional attention.

The bonus is that your boat always looks freshly detailed. You never have to invest a day cleaning to get ready to take the family out, do the loop, or to entertain. We can also arrange special cleanings to prepare your vessel for use, or cleanups after use where your valuable time did not allow for it.
We have yet to have a customer that needs a full detail more than once a year!

Since each vessel is unique, and each owner has their own pet peeves, we will put together a specific plan that works for you.

With many customers at the Marinas in New Bern, as well as Fairfield Harbor, chances are that you have seen one of our teams out working.

If anyone in the community would like to send financial support in memory of those lost in the Down East plane crash this past Sunday, Pamlico County High School will be collecting money to send to the families until noon on Friday.

Southern Seas is looking for a potential shop apprentice/general helper. This is a part-time entry level position that would certainly get the right person started in a career related to marine maintenance. Depending on the situation, it could lead to full-time employment with Southern Seas.

Must be mechanically inclined with a good work ethic, display attention to detail, and have an interest in working on and around boats. Must also have a valid driver's license, and clean driving history.

Work location will be in James City near Carolina Colours.

Duties would include assisting with boat washes and detailing, performing minor repairs, assisting with major repairs, basic cleaning and organizing in and around shop, parts chasing, and will increase in complexity and pay as appropriate.

Pay is $15.00 an hour. Hours would normally be some evenings and weekends, with the ability to to somewhat negotiate your schedule. 10-20 hours a week to start. Would be perfect for highschool or college student.
