The factory J-hooks weren’t cutting it, so I decided to make my own! I heated and bent 1-inch solid steel rod, welded on attachment points, and built a pair of custom hooks designed to reach through the holes in the 4x4s underneath hot tubs.

These should make pulling tubs out of semi trailers with the forklift faster, easier, and way less frustrating than crawling back into the trailer every time a J-hook slips off.

Sometimes the tool you need doesn’t exist — so you build it! 💪

Today we delivered a 1,500 Lb Catalina Berkshire hot tub! We slid it down the ramps of the trailer and used PVC pipes to move it across the yard. Weight, leverage, and friction can be your friend or your enemy when moving super heavy things.

Another tricky hot tub delivery! 💪

In this one, we tipped this massive hot tub off the trailer onto our slider, then carefully slid it across the ground and straight into a detached garage.

No crane. No forklift. Just the trailer, our homemade setup, and some muscle. 😂

This is exactly why every hot tub delivery is a little different—you never know what kind of setup you’re going to run into.

Can you move a 900-pound hot tub without a forklift, crane, or skid steer? In this video, we use my custom-built delivery planks to slide the spa safely off the trailer, transfer it onto PVC pipe rollers, and roll it all the way into its final location.

This delivery shows one of my favorite techniques for getting heavy hot tubs into tight backyards with minimal equipment. It’s simple, effective, and saves a lot of time when the terrain allows.

If you enjoy hot tub deliveries, hot shot trucking, heavy hauling, or seeing creative ways to move extremely heavy objects, this one’s for you!

Today we’re delivering another hot tub, but this one shows off one of my favorite delivery methods. We use my custom-built planks to slide the spa safely off the trailer, transfer it onto PVC pipes, and roll it all the way into its final location with no heavy equipment.

It’s a simple setup that’s made a huge difference on difficult backyard deliveries and helps us get tubs into places where forklifts and cranes can’t go.

If you’re into hot tub deliveries, trucking, heavy hauling, or just like seeing creative ways to move heavy things, you’ll enjoy this one.

Equipment Used:

* 20’ deck-over trailer
* Custom delivery planks
* PVC pipe rollers
* A lot of planning (and a little muscle)

This run had a little bit of everything…

🚛 Load #1: Hauled a load of aluminum studs from Durham, NC up to Middlesex, NJ.

🇺🇸 Load #2: Picked up a massive pallet at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst that was covered with a cargo net and needed to be completely tarped before heading to Norfolk, VA.

Things didn’t exactly go as planned…

⏳ I ended up sitting on base for 5 HOURS waiting to get unloaded, only to get turned right back around and sent to McGuire again. To make matters worse, I crossed New Jersey FOUR TIMES and racked up $212 in tolls before I could finally point the truck toward home.

Just another week in the life of a hot shot trucker!

This Florida hot shot run had a little bit of everything! I started by hauling a pump from Wake Forest, NC to Coral Springs, FL, then picked up a granite slab in Doral, FL and delivered it to Tampa. To finish the trip, I loaded a Ram 2500 in Tallahassee, FL and headed back to Morehead City, NC.

Just when everything was going smoothly, disaster struck. I completely lost my steering in a Love’s Truck Stop parking lot. After crawling under the truck, I found that the center link had separated from the pitman arm because the castle nut had come off. Thankfully, I was able to track down a replacement castle nut, reinstall everything, and get back on the road.

Life as an owner-operator isn’t always smooth sailing, but sometimes you’ve just got to figure it out and keep rolling.

Another week in the books for MCU Transport! This one had a little bit of everything, and it all happened during DOT Blitz Week.

🚛 This week’s loads:

* Picked up a tarped air duct in Henderson, NC and delivered it to Charlotte, NC.
* Hauled a 7,500 lb electrical transformer from Greer, SC all the way to Liverpool, NY.
* Finished the week by loading up a Chevy Traverse in Buffalo, NY and delivering it to Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Blitz week always keeps you on your toes. Every pre-trip matters, every securement gets double-checked, and every mile counts. Thankfully, everything went smoothly, the truck ran great, and we kept the wheels turning.

If you enjoy real hotshot trucking, load securement, tarping, DOT compliance, and life on the road, you’re in the right place.

Backing my trailer behind the house didn’t go exactly as planned… I caught the battery box door and ripped it clean off. Instead of buying a replacement, I grabbed some sheet steel, cut it to size, bolted on some hinges, and fabricated a brand-new door. Sometimes you’ve just got to build it yourself.

Truck repairs never seem to end when you’re an owner-operator. 😅

The AC blower fan quit working in my dually on one of the hottest days of the year. I was expecting another expensive repair after everything else I’ve had to fix lately.

After a little troubleshooting, I replaced the blower motor resistor for just $35… and the AC came right back to life! 💪❄️

Sometimes you get lucky, and it’s a simple fix instead of a four-figure repair bill.

Being your own boss means you’re not just the driver—you’ve got to be the mechanic, problem solver, and everything in between. That’s all part of the journey.

Check out the video to see what happened, and if you’ve ever had a blower motor resistor go bad, let me know in the comments!
