👀Want to reduce your exposure to microplastics? Start here! Switch out your black plastic kitchen utensils for bamboo— one of the fastest, easiest swaps you can make.🥣
Many black plastics are made from recycled electronic waste (gross!) and can contain harmful chemicals like flame retardants—one study found that 85% of kitchen utensils, sushi trays and toys tested contained these compounds, including one that was banned! 😱
So do you really want to be heating those up and potentially release chemicals while sautéing or flipping burgers? Not me!
Not mention, the plastics can wear down over time and shed micro-particles into your food. (That’s why we have bamboo cutting boards too!)
👉But not to worry, we’ve got a whole new batch of bamboo utensils at the shop—a category I’m actively expanding due to demand!
We currently have bamboo ladles, large flipping/ serving spatulas, mixing and scraping spatulas, risotto, straining and regular bamboo stirring spoons.
With proper care they last several years and are eventually compostable!
P.s. feel bad about throwing out black utensils? You could downgrade them to non-food household uses like mixing paint!
