As we conclude our 2026 Vessel Officer Workshop series, we reflect on a strong first half of the year shaped by collaboration, alignment, and a shared commitment to moving our organization forward.

Both Canal Barge and Illinois Marine Towing vessel officers came together throughout the workshop series to focus on Building the Best Boat and Barge Company with our Marquette Transportation teammates. Each session reinforced our priorities around safety, operational consistency, and continuous improvement, while also addressing key industry challenges, including the risks surrounding the Jones Act waiver.

In this final workshop, we recognized 240 collective years of service, a testament to the experience and dedication across our fleet.

Thank you to every captain, pilot, engineer, and family member who participated. Your commitment to safety and to one another continues to drive our success as we carry this momentum into the year ahead!

On National Maritime Day, we reaffirm the importance of the Jones Act as a cornerstone of our industry and our nation’s strength, and we honor our world-class mariners, engineers, barge techs, and welders, who deliver daily because of it.

They are the backbone of a safe, secure, and resilient U.S. maritime industry. The Jones Act plays a vital role in supporting American jobs, strengthening our domestic maritime capabilities, and ensuring the safe movement of the goods we depend on every day.

The Jones Act supports American jobs, strengthens our maritime industry, and helps ensure the safe movement of goods we rely on every day.

Our mariners lead the way when it comes to wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and setting the standard for safety across our organization. Their commitment to safety is the bedrock of everything we do.

This , we’re carrying that mindset forward and reinforcing the importance of life jackets both at work and at play on the water. Today is a reminder that the same habits and awareness that protect our crews on the job make a difference in everyday moments as well.

This week CBC and IMT Vessel officers and their families gathered in New Orleans to further our focus around Building the Best Boat and Barge company together and to celebrate an amazing 185 collective years of service.

This workshop featured meaningful dialogue on industry challenges, including the potential threats posed by the current Jones Act waiver, as well as forward-looking discussions on safety enhancements such as new tethering technology designed to protect our mariners on the job. These conversations underscored our shared commitment to US Inland Maritime Industry advocacy, innovation, and keeping safety at the forefront of everything we do.

We are grateful for the thoughtful participation and collaboration from every captain, pilot, engineer, and family member who joined us. Your engagement and perspectives strengthen our organization and help guide the path forward.

Thank you to everyone who made this second workshop of 2026 such a success. We look forward to continuing this momentum into the third and final Vessel Officer Workshop ahead.

We witnessed history once again with the successful launch of Artemis II.

We are proud to have played a role in advancing NASA’s mission supporting the transport of key Space Launch System components aboard NASA’s Pegasus barge along our U.S. inland waterways to Kennedy Space Center for launch to the Moon!

Artemis II marks NASA’s first crewed mission around the Moon in more than 50 years, and we’re honored to have helped move the mission one step closer to deep space exploration.

A sincere thank you to the CBC mariners, crews, and operations teams whose skill, professionalism, and dedication helped get this piece of history moving. Whether moving rocks or rockets, our world‑class mariners keep the United States moving with confidence.
