Maybe it’s because you’ve finally dropped your bags, changed out of your travel clothes, and stopped checking the time, but that first drink after you arrive always hits a little differently.

You’re sitting there looking at the place you’ve been thinking about for months, and for the first time all day, there’s nowhere else you need to be.

I had a few of those moments on this trip, and I’m convinced the first terrace cocktail deserves its own category of vacation memory.

What are you ordering first when you get there?

There’s something I really like about going back to a place I’ve already been.

The first time, I usually want to see the things I came all that way to see. But the next time, I’m much more willing to spend an afternoon in a neighborhood I missed, go back somewhere I know deserves more time, or leave part of the day completely open.

And I think that’s what I enjoyed so much about being back in Rome this time. I wasn’t trying to recreate my first visit. I got to see more of a city I’d only scratched the surface of before.

There are way too many places in the world I still want to see, but I’m becoming a very big fan of going back.

If there’s a place you’ve been wanting to return to, tell me where in the comments.

By the time you get to your honeymoon, you’ve probably spent months making decisions. Flowers, food, seating charts, timelines, and approximately 400 things you didn’t know you were going to have an opinion about.

Your honeymoon does not need that same energy.

You can have the dinner you’ve been talking about for months, spend an afternoon on a boat, wander around with nowhere specific to be, and still have a morning where the only decision you make is whether you want breakfast on the terrace or by the pool.

There should be things you’re excited to do, but there should also be enough room to actually enjoy being away together. Especially after everything it took to get to this point.

What's something you always make a point to do when you travel?

One of the things I always build in is time to just walk and explore a city with no plan, an afternoon, sometimes even a full day. No itinerary, no destination, just wandering until something catches my eye.

Which, if I'm being honest, is usually a building. I'm a huge architecture nerd, and half the reason I love wandering without a plan is that it's how I actually find the places worth stopping for.

What about you? Tell me in the comments."

The 'I want to see as much as possible' itinerary is one of the most common things I talk people out of.

I've watched people come home from a trip like that exhausted, barely remembering half the places they went. The ones who slow down come home already planning their next trip.

If you're the type who tries to fit it all in, I get it, and I can help you build a trip that still feels full without burning you out. Submit the inquiry form in my bio.

Sometimes the best couples trips aren’t the ones packed with plans.

They’re the ones where nobody has to make a decision for three days.

Breakfast just shows up. The room is quiet. There’s somewhere to sit outside with a drink and nowhere you need to be.

You sleep in. You stay longer at dinner. You remember what it feels like to not be in a rush.

That’s usually what people are actually looking for, even if they think they need a bigger itinerary.

If that sounds more like what you need, fill out the inquiry form in my bio.

I’ve seen couples go somewhere incredible and still come home feeling like the honeymoon was just okay.

Usually, it has nothing to do with the destination.
It’s the hotel.

The beach looked beautiful online, but it wasn’t somewhere they actually wanted to spend the day. The room was fine, but it didn’t feel special. The service felt busy when what they really wanted was quiet.

And I’ve seen the opposite too. A place they weren’t even considering ends up being the best trip they’ve ever taken because the hotel was exactly right.

People spend so much time choosing where to go and almost none choosing where they’re actually staying.

That part matters more.

Get the room upgrade. Go somewhere quieter than you think you want to. And let someone who does this every day help you choose the right place.
