72 hours in Megève.
Just one hour drive from Geneva is the impossibly pretty and quintessential mountain town of Megève. We spent 72 hours here at the very start of the season — perfectly timed for the annual Christmas tree lighting, fresh snowfall, and a first look at some of the area’s most charming hotels just opening for the season.
From chalet-style classics (Fermes de Marie, Cour de Megeve and L’Alpaga) to newly redesigned favorites (Lodge Park, Flacons de Sea), our days were filled with hotel visits, shopping (bien sur), and of course… eating. Think bubbling cheese fondue, raclettes, hot cocoa, sushi, and steak — all against a backdrop of snow-covered rooftops and fir trees after major snowfall just days before our arrival.
I was utterly charmed by this postcard-perfect town with cobblestone streets and horse-drawn carriages, chic shops and cozy restaurants and both superb people and dog 🐾 watching. Sophisticated but not pretentious, refined but warm — Megeve is a true Alpine village with great style and charm.
