Why your package really got sent back (it's not random) ๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿšซ
.Incomplete/incorrect customs paperwork โ€” missing commercial invoice, wrong HS (harmonized) code, or an inaccurate declared value stops it at the border before it ever clears.
.Restricted or hazmat contents โ€” lithium batteries, aerosols, flammables, and other dangerous goods are regulated under FAA/DOT rules and the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations for anything flying. TSA's rules are technically about passenger security screening, but shipments can still get pulled and rejected if they trip hazmat or prohibited-item flags at the airline/cargo level.
.Unpaid duties/taxes โ€” if it ships DDU (duties unpaid) and the recipient doesn't pay within the carrier's window, it gets kicked back.
.Recipient refuses delivery โ€” unexpected fees, wrong item, canceled order โ€” an outright refusal triggers an automatic return.
.Bad address / failed delivery attempts โ€” most common reason overall, but especially costly internationally since return transit can take weeks.
.Prohibited item in destination country โ€” even non-hazmat goods can be banned on the import side (certain foods, cosmetics, electronics) and get rejected on arrival.
