All aboard for transit connectivity!

During the U.S. Open, NYMTC Council member Metropolitan Transportation Authority - MTA expects over one million people will head to U.S. Open activities in Queens. MTA has enhanced subway headways and frequencies of the 7 train to account for demand. They have also added an extra stop along the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) Port Washington line during peak hours.

NYMTC is excited for these expanded transportation options for U.S. Open attendees and commuters alike. Timely updates like these help advance connectivity within our region’s transportation network.

🔎 NYMTC’s Crash Data Explorer Series: Staten Island

We're continuing our series on NYMTC’s newly launched Crash Data Explorer—a free, interactive tool that you can use to analyze crash data. This week, we're taking a closer look at crash data in Richmond County (Staten Island).

Between 2019 and 2024, there have been 63 fatal crashes in Staten Island. Crashes have generally increased each year over the same time period. A majority occurred during the evenings between 6:00 p.m.- 12:00 a.m.

🔎 NYMTC’s Crash Data Explorer Series: Westchester County

This week we're looking into Westchester County as part of our series on NYMTC’s newly launched Crash Data Explorer—a free, interactive tool that you can use to analyze crash data.

Between 2019-2024, there have been 211 fatal crashes in Rockland County, with most occurring in 2024 (40). Fatal crashes increased by 37.9% between 2019 to 2024.

The Crash Data Explorer tool visualizes crash data to provide insights into roadway safety across the NYMTC region. Check it out here: https://crashdata-nymtc.hub.arcgis.com.

Earlier this week, NYMTC's Executive Director Adam Levine spoke at the Clean Buses Conference in midtown Manhattan.

During the conference, Adam Levine shared insights into NYMTC's work in advancing zero-emission bus adoption across the region. He also discussed how inter-agency collaboration is key to a successful transition to clean bus fleets.

• Flood mitigation projects on roadways (Queens County)
• Safety enhancements in New Rochelle and Larchmont (Westchester County)
• New pavement markings for improved nighttime lane visibility in Brookhaven (Suffolk County)
