Twenty-five years ago today, the world stopped. But the trains didn’t.

On September 11th, 2001, and in the days that followed, Metro-North crews took their trains into a city that had come to a halt. They carried soot-covered firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and exhausted volunteers to and from Ground Zero. They pulled into station after station where families waited on the platforms for loved ones who had made it home. And they watched commuters stop and applaud as first responders walked through Grand Central, coming in from all over to dig through the rubble.

The men and women who worked those trains had families and fears of their own. They showed up and did the job anyway. That’s what railroad work asks of the people who do it, and on that day it asked everything.

Today, ACRE remembers all those lost on September 11th, 2001. We honor the first responders, the volunteers, and the railroaders who answered the call. We will never forget.

Solidarity, then and now. 🇺🇸

We stood with SMART, ATU, TWU Local 100, and unions across the movement at the CLC’s Labor Day Rally — all fighting for the same thing: a fair contract and the dignity every worker earns. When one of us fights, all of us fight.

And as we mark September 11th, we remember all those we lost. Twenty-five years later, we carry them with us every time we move this city forward.

Rest easy to the fallen. Stay strong to the fighting. 🕊️

Local 100 turned out strong for the CLC’s Labor Day Rally and March.

We have showed up today to rally for a fair contract, stand with labor and mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

We were proud to share solidarity today with other unions, including the Association of Commuter Rail Employees, BLET, SMART, Amalgamated Transit Union and BRS

Happy Labor Day from ACRE.

Today we honor the working men and women across every craft whose labor keeps this country moving — the members who show up in every season, every shift, every holiday and every condition to do the work our region depends on.

Labor Day was built by workers who organized, stood together, and won the protections too many now take for granted. That legacy lives in every collective bargaining agreement, every grievance defended, and every voice raised for fair treatment on the job.

To our members across all crafts: thank you for the work you do and the solidarity you bring. To the generations of workers who came before us: we carry it forward.

ACRE had a great meeting today with Governor Lamont to discuss commuter rail, transportation and a host of other issues.
