Every Wednesday, 2 to 5PM, Thatford Cul De Sac becomes a place to move, play, recharge, and connect. Every other week, the Pitkin Avenue BID and Hive Public Space teams bring free wellness programming for all ages and abilities, from meditation, sound healing, and yoga on the turf to ping pong, co****le, giant Jenga, art making, and a cooling station with bubbles floating through it all. 🧘🏾‍♀️🌿🫧🎨🏓

⚽️ Over the course of the FIFA World Cup, Our team collaborated with Chris Day to transform New York City’s public spaces into places of play, creativity, and community.

🎨 2,000 temporary tattoos and stickers shared
💛 Thousands of New Yorkers came together to celebrate the world’s game.

From kick-off to the final whistle, every event was a reminder that public space has the power to bring people together across neighborhoods, cultures, and generations.

The Brownsville Wellness Market was a three-part series created to uplift local entrepreneurs, promote wellness, and celebrate the creativity of the Brownsville community.

Hosted by Pitkin Avenue BID and designed by , with support from the NYC Health Department, the series featured free, multigenerational programming including yoga, sound healing, meditation, recreational cycling, high intensity fitness classes and healthy cooking demonstrations.

For three unforgettable days, Zion Triangle came alive, bringing neighbors together through movement, art, and wellness while supporting more than 20 local entrepreneurs. This video captures what wellness means to some of them and how the market created space for care, connection, and community support.

This summer we’re bringing that same partnership and energy into OPEN STREETS with fun incentives, wellness programming, and new reasons to keep coming back all summer long.

This summer, Pitkin Avenue BID BID and Hive Public Space are transforming the Thatford Cul-de-Sac (Thatford Avenue & Pitkin Avenue) into an Open Street designed for community, movement, and connection.

Join us every Wednesday from July 8 through September 2, from 2–5 PM, as we turn the block into a vibrant community oasis with meditation, sound healing, yoga, wellness resources, cooling stations, art activities, games, and opportunities to connect with your neighbors.

Hosted by NYC DOT these events transform streets into vibrant community spaces where fans can cheer together, enjoy local performances, and celebrate the beautiful game.

🙌 Thank you to everyone who showed up and shared your voice at Broadway Junction!

Over the course of three days, we hosted two Pop-ups and one Community Workshop at different times, all designed to meet you where you are and make participation accessible.

Your feedback on the two conceptual plaza designs will directly shape the future of this space. This is what co-creation looks like!
Together, we are building a more vibrant and equitable public realm for East New York.

A new vision for Broadway Junction is taking shape!
The Broadway Junction Plaza Project will transform the public realm around the station into a welcoming gateway for commuters, workers, residents, and visitors. As an extension of the Callahan Kelly Playground, the plaza will help shape the identity of the neighborhood, reimagine a busy intersection, and support future jobs, housing, and services

🚇 Broadway Junction is one of Brooklyn’s major transit centers, sitting at the intersection of five subway lines, six bus routes, and the Long Island Rail Road. It is also the meeting point of six largely residential neighborhoods: Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brownsville, Bushwick, Cypress Hills, East New York, and Ocean Hill.

The Broadway Junction Plaza Project will transform the public realm around the Broadway Junction Station to create an attractive and welcoming gateway for the community, including commuters, workers, residents, and visitors. As an extension of the Callahan-Kelly Playground, the plaza will continue to shape an identity for the neighborhood, reimagine a busy intersection, and facilitate transit-oriented development to bring jobs, housing, and services to the area.

The project team is led by the NYC Economic Development Corporation NYCEDC. The Design team is led by Langan and includes Hargreaves Jones for design and Hive Public Space for community engagement.
