The Newport Day Tripper is back by popular demand! This excursion is being offered on September 20th, the final day of International Boat Show Weekend, providing a unique way to experience what Newport has to offer. The train will depart Portsmouth (Melville) Station at 9am, taking the scenic route along the bay and arriving at Newport Station by 10am. Passengers can then make the short walk to the boat show, choose to transfer to the free hop-on/hop-off Bellevue Avenue Trolley, or head to the shops and restaurants downtown. The train will depart Newport at 4pm to return to Melville at 5:15p. For more information and to book your tickets, visit

Tickets are now on sale for the N&NBRR September 20th excursions! Join the Old Colony to support the FeedRI Foundation on a 1 hour and 15 minute train ride from Newport. Guests will have the opportunity to ride the train out of Newport and along the Narragansett Bay, up to the railroad’s Bayside Station. The train will stop overlooking the Narragansett Bay and, weather permitting, passengers will be able to disembark for a short stay at the picnic area before the return.
All proceeds will go to benefit the Feed RI Organization; more about their mission can be found at https://feedri.org. Payment can be made in cash or check on the day of the event

The Newport & Narragansett Bay Railway is renovating the station in anticipation of it being put to use regularly later this year. We are excited for future excursions like the popular Christmas trains that were brought back last year.
