Brush cutting opened up the historic Portsmouth (Coal Mines) Station site and unearthed the original foundation! Unfortunately all of the old stations along the Newport line were demolished so it’s neat to see something like this survive. We believe the station was demolished around 1976.

Here’s the last group of images from our clean up! Four shopping carts, 10 trash bags, a mattress, tires, and other debris was found along the first mile of our right of way. 8 volunteers totaled about 50 volunteer hours including prep and clean up for the event. Most of the trash was scattered along the route versus being in one area so a couple before and after photos are shown.
