Update… 6/8/23… Mail has been returned to the Newtown USPS.

*** NOTICE ***
Anyone who had mail in their mailbox before the store closed can pick it up at Monroe Pack and Ship.

If it isn’t picked up this week it will be returned to the Newtown Post Office by Friday.

Effective Monday we will permanently close our doors after 19 years.

April 24th The UPS Stores Inc (TUPSS) canceled the franchise without any notice. There has been an ongoing disagreement over the ownership of Janella Services LLC (the franchise owner) since Ella passed away October 21, 2021.

Ella received 100% of the corporation upon her divorce in 2016 (signed by a judge and her ex husband), and subsequently passed it to her son Jack just prior to her death.

In the normal world this is how business works. Unfortunately in the UPS world they would not recognize her divorce or her passing the business to her son.

There were numerous offers to purchase the store but TUPSS refused to approve any offers.

Since the cancellation of the franchise I have tried to purchase another franchise but TUPSS has refused to “provides us with verifiable, authorized written confirmation that specifically allows for the UPS franchisee to apply for PBC status without any restrictions.”

Although I was never the franchisee or ever had any interest in Janella Services LLC, I have been locked out due to TUPSS’s refusal to issue this notice.

From my experience TUPSS has manipulated, misrepresented and outright lied in an attempt to damage and take the store.

Given the events this past couple of weeks there is no way to reopen the doors. This is a huge loss for Newtown. I’m sure you can read between the lines… don’t be surprised if suddenly another UPS store appears! I’m sure there’s some sucker who will buy a UPS franchise. I feel sorry for them!

Since we lost Ella a year and a half ago we have been fighting with the franchisor, The UPS Stores Inc.

The fight is over, effective close of business Monday Store 1324 will no longer be part of the UPS brand.

We’re not going anywhere… Tuesday we become Newtown Pack Mail Ship and have applied to be part of a new franchise hybrid.

What this means for our customers is more services, lower prices and better options like FedEx and DHL, USPS and even UPS.

Stay tuned as we transition Ella’s store for the future.
